First can you tell us how big and old you are and what kind of quad you would like utility sport or a combination of both.

i REALLy think that having 4x4 would be a BIG plus in snow/mud situation. But you can still have a 2x4 with good tires at the back... It also depend on what type of ridding you want, will you go fast or slow, how big are you ?

Can you say SCRAMBLER? You need a sporty 4x4. I think a scrambler 400 or 500 would suit you fine. If yo are not a Polaris fan, then go with the yamaha Wolverine. The wolverine is all time 4x4 however, the scramblers have a on/off switch for 4x4. But if you are only 5 ft I wonder how old you will be. A 400/500cc machine sounds a bit large for you. Maybe you should start out with a 250 cc quad. Maybe the recon, trailblazer, honda 300 4x4, new polaris 250 explorer 4x4.

Hey man, why hasn't RECON been the #1 choice here? 400 or 500cc is too big for him, he used to have an 80cc, so he clearly shouldn't go from the power of an 80cc to like 500! That's crazy, and he needs something that will suit his size well and not have to give up if he grows. With all this being said, he definately needs to go with a RECON. I assume you are fairly young and will grow, especially because of your previous quad size. You want to go a little larger with something that won't hold you back as you succeed. The Recon will suit you well, fits the terrain you described, and you'll have a blast...I don't have one.

Dirt Wheels turned a Recon into a total sport machine and did an article on how they did it. I usually am not able to work out the process of sending it to people, but I have it scanned and stuff if you're interested. If you want to go totally sport, but not real expensive, get a Mojave. Otherwise, the Recon suits you well. Also, are you buying new no matter what? Do you want a sport machine or utility? a mix?

After re-reading your original post, definately go with the Recon, it'll work best for what you're doing. Mojave would be more of a strictly dirt trail sporty bike.
