Ive owned a 400 ex and now a banshee. Right now Im getting the raptor why would you get the 400ex the raptor handles just as good has way more power beter suspension and reverse. My ex had a pipe filter and jets. It is definitley underpowered for a sport quad. Sorry but this is a no brainer get the raptor.

turd....I guess you have rode the Raptor since you feel the Raptor is unstable in turns? All reports are that the suspension is at least "as good" as the 400ex suspension. Hey Pimped...have you rode the 400ex? That would help in making your decision. Also, if you are not on a waiting list already for the Raptor...I would bet that you could'nt get one till next year (so keep this in mind in your decision).

Hey Pimped,
If you decide on a Raptor, do it soon, 'cause there are still some available. I spoke with a dealer last week who only had one deposit put down on one.
I don't remember the name of it, but a guy in one of the forums (last week) was claiming that his dealer said they would be in last week. I called the dealer (took the guys address from his profile and then searched for Yamaha in that town) and he told me the same thing. It turned out not to be true, but I talked to my dealer today and he was told there is a chance some will arrive at dealerships this week.

no, i have never rode a 660, but it seems to make sence that if a machine is narower and has a higher gas tank and more weight in the engine (making it more top heavy) it would be less stable, wouldnt it??? yamaha must really have done some work if the 660 is more stable.

I love my 400EX; it is awesome. I, however, haven't had the opportunity to ride a RAPTOR. When looking on paper, I would say the RAPTOR would take the 400EX. As someone pointed out, it is water cooled (definitely a +), has reverse (another +), has 260cc's more than the EX (triple +), and looks pretty damn ferocious
I can't emphasize this enough though; I haven't RIDDEN (proper pronunciation by the way) the RAPTOR. To make an honest judgment, I'd have to ride it first.
I ride in the woods with both wide and tight trails. 660cc seems like an awful lot of power for woods riding. Who knows though, it may help in the tight spots where you need the acceleration to get some BIG air.
Question: How many of you sure-minded individuals have actually ridden the Raptor?...That's what I thought
