I'm going to be a first time ATV buyer. I hunt and explore the back country - -that would be the primary use of the unit. I've read about and looked at most 4x4 models and have narrowed it down to two: the Yamaha Kodiak and the Arctic Cat 500 auto. Any other suggestions?

A a Arctic Cat 500 owner, I will tell you the Kodiak is sportier.

If you are looking for more sport, or if the trails you ride in are tight, get the Kodiak.

If you want a better ride, the most torque, better tires, better front diff, and a more responsive transmission get the Cat.

Arctic Cat 500, Don't worry I'll pull you out.

I live in a very rough area (southern Utah) and I've been observing which ATV's appear to hold up best. There're several rental companies in the area and they all rent Honda, Polaris or Arctic Cat. Polaris doesn't have a good reputation however; one of the rental guys told me they snap belts and have carbration problems (?). Anyhow, thanks for the input.
