Just wondering....why spend 4 to 7 thousand dollars for a nice, new atv, then spend several hundred or a few thousand more to change it? Why not buy what you want? Just wondering.......

That's a good question, but for me, I would have to say that once you find something you like, get it, drive it for a while then once you know what it can and can't do, you can make it better. Custimizing or building things to suit your own specific needs are what makes atv's or trucks, etc. special and unique to "you", not something that every Tom, Dick and Harry has got running around everywhere. I think not only would it be boring to see the same identical quad running around everywhere, if there were no aftermarket manufacturers allowing us to "modify" our rides. Everything would be the same, no differences, nothing unique or individualized.

Then again, I love my AC, but I don't see Arctic Cat building a 500 Auto with 28" Outlaws, ITP .190 rims, HP kit, winches front and rear, full bright headlight setup with accessory lamps mounted up front, dual reverse lights in back, twin accessory plugs to run GPS and optional spotlight or cell phone setup, mortar boxes and or huge rack bags to carry everything you'd need to survive a week or two one hundred miles out in the middle of nowhere, brush guards, air compressor rigged up through bumpers to allow for on-demand tire pressure such as found in the hummers, etc, etc. Hey, that would be pretty cool!

Guess I got a little carried away there, but that would be pretty cool if they did offer something like that, course you'd probably pay a ton more for it. Not everybody needs a quad for the same reasons, so I think the atv manufacturers build quads to fit the majority of the people. That's where the aftermarket suppliers come in to assist in building the "custom" rides for each specific individual that requires something a little tougher, bigger, stronger, etc.

Very good point-If it ain't broke, don't fix it. For guys like me, that just isn't any fun! Heh Heh Heh
