Default which is best ?

I want to try a little bit of everything, well, except for the mud ATM, not gonna rain for a long time. Which means: a little cross country, little MX, little racing.. until I find what I really like. If I stick with what I like I'm gonna get the bike that works the best for that. This first quad will be for testing all of the different things there are to try. So far most have said that the raptor is best, but others like the YFZ, and from what I have seen you guys dont seem to like the pred so much, so that one is out. So whichever one I get will be ridden to the limit, for a few hours a day. I don't want anything that will break down on me out in the middle of nowhere, and I want somthing that has alot of speed, power, and good-great handling.

Based on your last post, again the Suzuki Z400 is my recommendation! It is the best all-around machine there is. This machine does EVERYTHING well!

Cake,
1) How big are you (height/weight) and how old are your sons? WHat may be a great ATV for you may not be for you kids!
2) Is reverse a requirement for you?
3) Do you plan on putting any mods into these bikes in the future or leave them basically stock?

I own both yamaha's, and have a slight preference on the YFZ, it's quicker, strong, and it's been beaten up badly, and haven't had one problem. The raptor is good, but not for the track. Answer the questions that DSengineer asked you, and it will help us alot.

Hey Cake, have you looked at the DS650? Maybe you should include it in your quads to look at.

I'm 6'2'', 260'ish.. Son is 6'4'', 180-190.. and the other son is 5'8'', 200'ish lbs.

I am looking to put mods on later on, but they will be stock for a while.

Will take a look at the DS650, Bryce

I looked at the DS650, it's nice. Heavier than the raptor, and the raptor is heavy on it's own. Is it top heavy also ? Also took a look at the z400, was wondering if that one ran out of gas as fast as the YFZ, because of the same tank size.

Personally I don't think any of you with the exception of maybe your son at 5'8" would be at all comfortable on a YFZ450. The Raptor or Predator would definately be better suited for your size. Not to mention the DS since it is made for bigger riders. However as you have mentioned these machines are heavies and not as well suited for the MX track. The Z400 is a nice bike but you will probably find it lacking in the power department in stock trim especially considering your size. Your kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place here if your looking for that one machine to fulfill all your needs. This is a tough one but my vote would have to go to the Raptor out of the ones you are considering.
