Is this a good deal on a 03 kodiak????
#1
Hello all, I just run across a 03 kodiak 450 with only 158 miles on the odo, it is a camo model and looks like new, plus has a winch already installed, best price I could get was 4,400. Is this worth the money? and is there anything wrong with this year of model? Any help

Its not a great deal, but ok.
When they were clearanceing out the new 04s, they were 4800, a few months ago. Thats with a warentee, so make sure you know why its for sale, because youll be paying for any fixes.
Im not aware of any big issues with the kodiaks..just the usual, squeeky back brake. Make sure you ride it, and try out the 4wd system to be sure it all works and doesnt have any bad noises.
If you really like it, offer a few hundred less, and see what happens.

I just drove 720 miles round trip to jackson, Tn. to buy an 05 kodiak 450 for $5399.00 otd. But I don't think what you're looking at is a bad deal either. You'd be getting the camo and a winch plus low miles for $4400. Like the man said I would offer him $4000 and see if he bites. You'll like the kodiak when you get it. There's many reviews of that year on the net. Good luck with your choice.

nada guide
This shows any where from 3500 to 4600. The camo really doesnt add to the value on used atvs, unless thats what you prefer, but it doesnt cost more. The winch is a nice add on, if its a quality unit and was wired right and works.
Alot depends on who owned it and how well it was taken care of. Was it an old guy, and just isnt interested anymore? Is it a teenager, who beat on it, and decided it wasnt a sporty like he wanted? Was it ever serviced? for what? Any warentee work done on it? who put the winch on?
If you have a friend, whos knowledable on quads, you might want to bring him along, for some advice on the condition.
If you can, drive it before buying. Alot depends on the condition, and that nothing bad happened in those 158 miles.
When ever someone sells a used quad, its priced on the high side of what he thinks he can get...your job, should you choose to accept it, is to get as low as possible. If you offer 3800, and show him the nada guide, and explain the risk youre taking on buying a used quad, plus the advertizing fee hes not gonna have to pay, and that he wont have to deal with waiting and showing it to others, and so on and so on. Most likely he will know youre interested, and do a compromise, around 4000. If he wont budge, give him your phone number, and tell him you have to think about it. If hes motivated ,He'll call you.
This isnt he only quad out there...if you pass on this, there will be others. Thats the one thing I know for sure..Ive bought many bikes and quads, and it never fails, but after i buy, i find a better deal somewhere else.
Good luck, and welcome to the forums
