Default Raptor Right For Me?

I am thinking about buying a Raptor real soon, early May. Anyways, I want to buy the 2005 Special Edition one whenever I do. I mainly ride trails.

I ride trails, like to jump, wheelie, slide, and go to the ocassional MX track, nothing serious. I also like to hill climb as well. On the trails that I ride, there are some water and mud crossings you have to go through as well. Also, how deep of water can a Raptor go into and still be safe of not drowning it out. Just wondering cause there is a stream behind the camp I ride up and down with dads Wolverine on. My guess would be it's 2- 2 and a half ft. deep.

Is the Raptor actually "tippy" or "tpp heavy" like I always hear it is?

Also, what is the best OTD price you have gotten on a Raptor so far? Special Edition and regular. How much of a price difference is there between the regular Raptor and the Special Editions? $300?

I am also thinking about buying a used modded Banshee, atleast an 2002 or newer and doing the same things with it as I would with the Raptor. For the Raptor, I am going to mod it out, a-arms, axle, suspension, skids, nerfs, pipes, etc. Pretty much make it the ultimate trail quad if I get one.

Which one sounds like the right bike for me? I am an agressive rider that just wants a good all around play bike to do anything and everything with. I am 5' 10" and weigh about 185lbs.

Thanks for the help.

Well, I went and looked at an '05 Z. I think I am going to buy one of those. How do these compare to the Raptor? I head they are the best all around quad and that it is better than a Raptor since the Raptor is tippy and top heavy.

Well, looks like im getting an 05 Z

Well, I am buying a 2005 yellow Z-400. Best all around quad. I dont care about top speed. Z-400 isnt much slower, plus it's a ,much better platform. Better suspension, less tippy or top heavy, smaller, weighs less, etc.

I already rode it along with my freinds Raptor, and I like the Z a lot better. Raptor doesnt have that much more power, but the Z makes up for it in the suspension and handling department. Plus the Z it pretty much the best quad to get for a mix of any kind of riding.

Hey bro! Here's the deal. Banshees rule the sand. Raptor well, they are heavy and they like to feel tippy. It's all in what you want it to be. If you want a MX bike, don't go with either of them. Heck I turned mine into one and it's really heavey with all the add-ons. I'm a pretty big guy and can handle it but I would go with 450r honda or the 450 YFZ. Plus the Stock Raptor suspension sucks. I changed mine out in about a month or 2. In my experience in drag racing stock. The 450r wins. The 450 YFZ and Raptor are about the same. Depends alot of the riding and racing type too. Raptor is very torquey. 2 stroke are just going out of style unless you are strictly hardcore drag racing. Peace in the MiddleEast!

Well, like I said, I think I am buying the 2005 Z-400. Almost has the same power as Raptor, like 2 hp less and its still very torquey. Good suspension stock, handles/turns a lot better than the Raptor. Doesnt feel tippy or topheavy, etc.

The type of riding I will be doing is trails, hill climbs, some MX, wheelies, tricks, etc.

I think the Z400 suits me best since it is the best all around quad for everything, which I will be doing. I will modify it too. A-arms, axle, pipe, nerfs, bumper, skids, bars, kill switch, tires, wheels, etc.

For the stock shocks, whenever I buy +2 a-arms, do you think the stock shocks would be good as long as I get them revalved for +2 a-arms and my weight?

Thanks,
Scott.
