Z-400/KFX400 vs. YFZ or Raptor??
#1
Ok so im getting a new Quad btu im not sure which route to take. I'd really like a YFZ but its a good bit of cash. So im thinking raptor. Also i was looking at the z-400 and kfx400 they both look nice. So some feedback on either of them would be nice and which one is more recomended. also if i were to get one fo them i would have more money left to put towards some parts or something like a pipe (white borthers e2?) whereas if i get the raptor (which my parents arent quite into b/c its so big. im about 5'11" and 140 lbs so is a raptor ok in that respect?) k so in summary z-400 vs. kfx400 then kfx/z (with a pipe white bros e2 or something else?) vs. raptor with nothign. and raptor ok size for me? ive been riding for over a year i had a blaster and i ride dirt bikes alot. thanx i know its alot but help would b appreciated

Im 6' 285lbs and im picking up a 05 z400 in two weeks. Its all about what you are going to do with it. If I was going to drag race I would get the raptor but im not, and the z400 has better suspension. So just go see what you like better and get it.

Redneck, I just picked up my 2005 LT-Z400 yesterday and all I can say is that this bike rocks. All new suspension, carb, beefed up frame and the works. I payed 5700 bucks cash out the door and worth every penny. I too looked at the raptor, YFZ and TRX450 and for the price, I choose the LT-Z400. They say the list for the LTZ is 5799 but I got it for 5200 plus tax and 150 dollar dest fee. The power it has is unbelievable and with the extra cash in your wallet, over the YFZ and TRX450, you can hop it up and make it even better. If you have the money and are looking for a great trail quad that can also be used on the track, then the LT-Z400 is your bike of choice, it mods up well. I have always been a Honda man but this bike has drawn me to the dark side. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I know CT is a ways from you but my dealer here has some great prices. let me know if this helps and just remember, no matter what you choose, just have fun. Ride on and good luck.

What dealer in CT did you buy it from? The ones I've been looking at have, well lets just say been considerable higher (RER, Willows, Libby's) So if you know of a good dealership in CT please let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff

Of the bikes you mentioned, the Z400 is the best all-around machine. Not the fastest but fast enough (the engine hops up really well!), handles great, and it is proving to be as reliable as the venerable old 400EX.
I find the Raptor carries its weight kind of high in the frame. Add to that the fact that it is narrow, and you end up with a somewhat tippy machine.
The YFZ is more of an MX bike. I don't particualrly like it for trail or cross country rides.

Yea,
The YFZ is a beast, a monster that's built for racing. In the woods or cruising the trails the Z400/KFX is the better ride. Like everyone says the Raptor is kinda tip prone, it likes to 2-wheel in corners more, and the front end likes to come up too quick.
The Z is a really nice all around machine. Its the new standard for sport machines at this point as far as the recreational rider goes,
