Hello i really need help on deciding which to buy. They all seen just awsome i just dotn know what to buy. I would like a 450 but someone also said the Yfz cant go through mud is this true? i like riding trial, racing, jumping, muddin Etc. The Z-400 seems nice but then again i want something that can keep up or beat my dads 660 raptor. Would someone please help me with this i just cant decide which would be better. i like them all N thats the problem i dont perfer honda, or suzuki, or yamaha. They ALL make quaility quads. So could people who have them will you tell me what u like and dont like about them, and if they can go through mud, sand Etc. i would really apprieate help. thank you very much.

PRO'S AND CONS OF EACH IF SOMEONE CAN TELL ME(not just this is for Mx blah, blah cuz you can pretty much use any quad for w.e right? i just need to know some thoughts of each of them through people who have them or who know alot of bout them. Thank you again for reading this. N answering this if you do.

Also could someone give me lists of things that could make each better? well it would be more with the Z, but just some power upgrades that would really help for all. And what years would be the best to buy for each. i really want something that wil rip in the Sand, on gravel etc. and just soemthing that is all around very good.

well a 450r can go through much more mud than the yfz because of the ground clearence plus with a pipe you can stay up with the 660 raptor but with the price you are paying for the trx you can get a raptor 660

I've never gone through any really deep mud with my yfz, so I guess I can't say a whole lot on that, but it does absolutely rip on any surface. I ride mostly sand, and it is just amazing out there. There is nothing out there that I would take over my yfz. I love it. The honda is a good bike too. I wouldn't really recomend gettin the z400 if you're wantin to keep up with/beat a raptor. Neither the yfz or trx will beat the raptor, while stock, at top speed though. I know that my yfz accelerates way faster than the raptor, but the raptor is geared taller, so it tops out later. I don't know how the trx compares to the raptor in a race, but I'd imagine that it'd be in the same boat as the yfz. Up a hill, the yfz kills the raptor. my yfz jumps, races, cornors, and everything else awesome! Couldn't be happier with it.

I see a lot of these threads on which sport quad should I but etc, and be happy your only looking at a few to compare as some people have been comparing these as well as the predator, ATK, and others.

One thing is for sure is thats its is great for all of us that we now have so many choices (I remember when it was either a ds650, raptor, or 400ex) and from what I have been able to figure from the time I have had to ride those your looking at and even the others not listed there isnt really a bad choice among them.

Sure one may be slightly better at one thing than the others in stock form, and they all may respond differently to various mods, but overall they all perform very well and are better overall machines that what we had avail to us just a couple years ago, and even when compared to the same models as there has been updates on most of them too.

As far as trying to help you make a decision best I can offer is to try and get as many replies here and search around for specific info on each model from those who own them and what problems or likes they have etc, and most importantly find an owner of each to let you get in a short ride to see how they are different etc.

There isnt any replacement for a test ride in a true offroad terrain to see how a machine performs and handles etc, and since this is where youwill ride it you cant get a fair feel for the machine in a dealers parking lot.

One thing I tell everyone including my friends is to make up a list of what is important to you, and then make one of for each machine that includes its features (dont be swayed by sales features, and stick to the real stuff like power, handling, price, etc etc) and then compare them not only to each other, but also to your original list of what is important etc.

good luck

I own the Z and the TRX, and have ridden a friends YFZ quite a bit. By far, the Z is the best all-around machine! It does everything well. Handles well and handles light. The motor has great hop up potential! You won't beat a Raptor, but you will be able to keep up just fine. In the real tight stuff, you will easily outhandle the tippy Raptor. If I only had one machine to do everything, this would be it.

I pick the TRX only for open desert and fast open trails. This motor likes to rev, it is geared tall, and doesn't like to go slow! Therefore, the powerband is a little hard to handle in tight slow trails. A gearing change might help that however, but for really technical terrain, pick something else.

The YFZ is an out of the box MX machine. Great for the track, jumping, and a superb play bike (back yard MX, stuff like that), but I never enjoy it for any kind of long ride. It has a high revving engine like the TRX, and doesn't like to go slow on tight trails either.

These are 2wd sport quads, so they weren't designed with mudding in mind!

If you tell us what type of riding you do, where you live, etc It could definatly help people on what might be better for you.

Well there is also the ATVsport magazine sport quad of the year, TLD Predator to consider... (shameless owner plug)

Seriously... take 440EX026's advice. There isn't a bad machine out there. It's also important to find a dealer you like who will support you... whether that is warranty work or just buying a few quarts of oil.

The only thing I would recommend is getting a quad with reverse since you listed trail riding.

supportive dealers. Wow I wish we had those. I lost all faith in the stealership a looong time ago. I guess they dont know how to treat an ATVer. They have junior uncertified mechanics work on your stuff, they charge you a fortuine and they replace stuff that didnt need to be done. Im glad I found myself a real good ATV/dirtbike/sled mechanic, totally uncertified and works out of his garage but is fair and does excelent work. Other then that my dealership is Ebay.

Not to sway the topic or whatever, but yours is a pretty popular problem or situation.

I remember when I first got this atv and decided to let the local dealer do a valve adjustment, well you would have thought he was building a new atv being he wanted to have it for two weeks (wtf is up with that anyhow) and at almost $80 plus tax I was giving serious thought to changing my career to do nothing but valve adjustments

Considering that if you push it you can take everything apart, set the valves, and put it all back together in less than 30 minutes maybe its not a bad idea at all.

Thank God I am able to do take care of this thing myself because if I had to deal with these (and most of the others I know of local) people I would think of another sport or hobby.
