z400 or raptor660
#2
Hey welcome to the forums! obviously you are new so I will help you out. This question has been asked so many times in this forum it isn't even fun replying anykmore. Do alittle bit of research and you will find posts exactly like this that will answer your question and tell you why this or that is better. I personally reccomend the z400 espeically since it will be your first quad. They are almost as fast as a stock raptor but they are easier to control because raptors sit higher then z's so they are easier to tip. The z is a great performer in the trails and jumping because of the suspension and reverse. It will take the raptor on the track anyday and its not as hard to manuver through tight trails. But just to show you look around on the next couple of pages and see what I'm talking about with the same types of questions! good luck buddy

id go with the raptor but it isnt safe for a first quad because of the way its set up. most people end up rolling theirs as soon as they get them. z400' s ganna be your best bet.
but if you want a real machine get a banshee i never had trouble with rolling it or tipping it over.

The Z is a superb all-around machine. Descent power and great handling. Don't let the stock bike fool you, this engine hops up real well.
I find the Raptor to be kind of tippy. There width is to narrow and the weight is carried kind of high in the frame. I would have to spend $$$ widening it. Yamaha really doesn't refine the hadling of their machines like Honda and Suzuki do (YFZ might be an exception, but it is a MXer not a cross-country machine). Yamaha tends to put large HP engines in their machines, and count on the thrill of big power to make the rider forget that the thing really doesn't have superb handling.

i have a raptor 660 with a few mods on it.....but to ride a raptor you just have to be a good rider. which is why alot of these folks don't like em . cuz honestly ive never had a problem handling my raptor and if you know how to really drive a sport quad then you'll know its not a tippy machine. its got excellent power to weight ratio and will climb any hill you put it up against.
