Bill,

Elusive means 'hard to capture'. That has nothing to do with appearance. Polaris quads are excellent quads, but they are pretty ugly. When a first-time ATV buyer walks into a dealer not having much experience with ATVs and what they should look at in a quad, you think that person will buy an ugly quad? Look at the Apple iMac: people buy that because it is a performance machine? No, because it looks cute, it's available in multiple fruity colors, and people don't know any better.

Ugly huh?
Polaris quads are so DAMN ugly that they are the second [and now very close to first]leading manufacture for total quad sales.

I think someone has a case of ''BAD TASTE''

People,

Have you guys seen the 2001 Polaris New Sportsman 400? The white rims with those huge dust covers look so ugly. Also, I don't like the overall design of the New Sportsman. Steve10, your '97 Polaris Sportsman 400 looks awesome. Although I am curious of why your wife has a bigger quad than you do...A girl (your daughter) riding a quad? Every teenager's fantasy...mmmmmm.....

MrElussive, The reason my quad is smaller than the wife's is because it's built for speed, handling, and basicly hang on, haulin *** fun. I like that kind of excitement and challenges, but believe me you can't do that on a big 600 pound quad. You might say that my wife could get by on a much smaller quad, but she likes the automatic and the fact that we can cruise together at 50mph all day in the open. You see I have the best of both worlds...a quad for unbelievable speed...a quad for haulin all our stuff over any terrain, utility work, or high speed cruisin. I don't understand your comment about my daughter or "every teenager's fantasy". My daughter is 8 yrs old and I like the fact that she loves to load the quads on the trailer and go have a blast as a family. We ride with my two nephews, 10 and 13 years old, and they know that her riding skills aren't far behind theirs. Do you realize how many kids I see in our neighborhood whose parents don't spend that kind of fun time with them. I wish my mom and dad would have done something this cool with me. While these kids are inside playing Sega all day, we're out stirring dust and mud.

Steve

Are you sure? Then where are they? From what see here it would be between Yamaha or Polaris.I go riding alot a seen one Rancher one Foreman and a 200 Fourtrax.Even in the backs of trucks I would have to say I see more Big Bears than anything eles.It seems to me Honda has a smaller selection of models compard to Yamaha and Polaris. It may because of the slow rough terrain here mostly old logging roads but I never came across a Sport bike of anykind just one Scambler in the back of a truck at McDonalds drive though.
