A friend of mine just sold a used one for $4,000. The thing was practically immaculate, save a few scratches and what not on the plastic. All stock, and never flipped, rolled, or wrecked. Very well taken care of, basically.
Even though it is a moot point now, do you think $4,000 was just right, too low, or too high given the brief information I have provided above? I told him he should've at least been able to get $5,000 for it. Or, do you think that's too high?

He sold it back home. So, this did not take place in CA.
He was asking $5,500 for it at first. Had a lot people stop to look at it, too. But, nobody too serious about it at that price. So, he droped the price to $5,000. Still had many people look at it, but no takers. Finally, had someone come by, who he told he was asking $4,500 for it. The dude countered with $4,000. My friend told him to be at his place the next day with $4,000 CASH, and he would do it. All history now...
I think my friend got screwed, and it was mostly due to one major fault of his own doing. The only advertisment he ever did was by placing the bike out in his front yard so that people passing by could see it for sale. No paper, internet, etc advertising whatsoever. He could have definitely gotten more than $4,000 for it. Oh well...

Maybe he didn't have the title for it anymore. In this state it's hard to sell a bike/quad without a title because it's so hard to get license/ORV tabs without one. There is a waiting period. It's a PITA. Don't know how your state compares. That could explain why he only got $4000 for it.

There were several reasons why he didn't like it. They include engine whine, heat coming off of the engine near the legs, too tall and tippy, too much power, and drinks way too much gas. He says he is very happy with his replacement, which is a new 2005 Honda Rubicon.
