Reverse on Sport Quads???
#1
How important do you think it is???....I am looking to buy my first Quad, and noticed that some of the higher priced quads don't have Reverse.....I'm riding a Honda 250ex right now with reverse and use it all the time!!! Whether its on the trail or taking out of my truck....For example, I was really interested in the Bombardier DS650X but when I sat on the thing I couldn't even reach the ground, and I'm 5'11"....There is no reverse on that, and its kind of a heavy machine, and there is no way I could "walk" it off of my truck....So, again, just wanted to see what the pro's and con's are of having Reverse on a sport quad....Thanks...

Yea, sounds like the kind of riding you do, reverse is good to have. I use mine all the time too, and it's funny -- in a sad kind of way -- when I'm following my buddy that has a Banshee and he get's into a bad spot and needs to back up. I hit the override, shift into reverse and am on my way. He has to get off the bike, push it out a bit, correct the steering, pull the rear wheels out, push it some more., try turing it around...LOL...it goes on and on.
Is it a must have, of course not. Is it really nice to have....oh, yea!!

Sorry but I learned old school, from sleds to quads, I guess I just got used to moving them by hand. Thats just me tho, I never have been quite right. lol. =]

I doubt anyone actually needs it, ie, it would be easy enough to move your quad in most cases without it. It sure is nice to have though. I always smile when I watch a riding partner on one of the 450s tugging at a grab bar to get out of a tight spot.

I agree, reverse would be nice but not an absolute necessity.
I have a DS and there have been a couple of occasions that it would have come in handy, but if you are doing a LOT of dune riding and open country riding, probably no big deal.
I see you are from Elk Grove, have you been over to West Coast ATV right there across from John Deer off hwy 99? I had my DS serviced there since the jerks over on Auburn Blvd. (anytime power sports) put up such a big fuss about servicing my Outlander since I didn't buy it from them. They service all brands, not just BRP.
