z400 vs. 400ex
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum.
I was just wondering which is the better quad. I have been reading most of the comparisons that you guys have done here, but I haven't read much about the comparison between these 2.
I am 6'0 220 and I am looking for speed with some Florida trail riding (not many hills). My uncle has the 400ex and I have ridden that thing and it was a blast, but then I read the specs on the Z and I am torn between the two. I am experienced with a clutch do to riding of a street bike. I am not a new rider as far as quads go also. I have ridden Blasters in the past (when I was 12-13), however want a little more size now that I am older and bigger (21 now). Also I am not concerned with the wheel coming off of the ground, I actually find it fun to bring the wheel up at any time.

I own both. The EX is a superb ride for tighter slower semi-technical trails where you need to lug the engine down. The Z does better on open faster trails and wide open country, because its engine likes to be ridden reved out. Both have excellent handling. The Z is faster, and responds well to some simple motor mods.
Both machines are very durable, but if I am in the desert 75 miles from my truck and I want to be sure to get back, it's the EX I would prefer to be on!

Cool, thanks for the advice. I think I will go with the Honda even though the Z is faster. I'm not a big fan of Suzuki street bikes but I wasn't sure how there quads were. Like I have said I have ridden the Honda and it was a blast, but I want to make sure I get the right quad since whichever one I get I am in it for the long haul.

Forgot to answer this one: The EX is the all time wheelie king! Lots of more powerfull quads will wheelie easier, but the EX is nicely balanced. You can loft he front easily, but it doesn't get off the ground when you want it to either.
All the EX's power is very usable, where the Z spins it's tires sometimes.
