yam 700r vs. hon 400ex
#2
both are good, the hanet rode the 700 yet but have seen them in action. ridden many 660s and they have nice torque and stuff - i dont like the handling; the 700R has its suspension derived from the YFZ so i think that prob is resolved now.
as far as the choice btwn the 2, is price a big factor? b/c the raptor is about $1200 more(depending on the dealer) than a 400ex...you may want to look into a z400, kfx400 as well. they are good bikes and IMO, the best bang for the buck right now. Do a search on the corrosion issues on the 05/06 models.... are you going used or new?
unless you are just hardcore stuck on honda and yamaha... most of what ive had has been hondas/yamahas but others in the fam have had suzukis with no probs either. just take care of whatever you get and have a good time, ride safe.

400 ex is a good bike 700r is a good bike... especially if your trailin it... does good in the dunes from what i here.... 400ex is solid all around the 700 is a pretty wicked i rode many a 660's and the 700 is like a diffrent bike has more power stock for stock instant throttle response and compared to the old 660 this bike handles like it was made for the track.... oh yeah and it is comfortable for long rides also....

i really want to get new. it just makes me feel better. i know there are good used ones out there and probably save a little money plus the bank will loan for a new one but not used. really want to stay with the yamaha or honda ive owned these bikes in the past and have had good luck with them plus the resale value seems higher with the yamaha or honda. anybody want a 06 honda xr650l 850 miles perfect condition. would like 4400 for it.

They are both great quads but if the 700 is in the budget I think you will love it. One concern they do say the weight limit is 220lbs on the Raptor but dont think would be a problem unless your a big jumper. My buddy had a 400ex and in the trails was great had no problem keeping up with anything that ran with us. The power in open areas between the 400 and 700 isnt even a comparison though. Could pass him at will in any situation. After first ride with me on my new 700 he went and bought a 450.
