Skip the Polaris. It weighs a ton (~700 lbs.). The Kodiak weighs nothing compared to it, and it's amazingly nimble.

 

is there any online reviews of the atv's that ive mentioned that dont have a biased opinion? reviews of the atv's that actually ride the hell out of them to see which ones hold up? Tim

First of all I'd like to say that all your choices are great machines. You and I are about the same weight and height, so when i was looking for a quad (toy) to move snow and trail ride with the guys I went with a 650 v2 Arctic Cat. I was first looking at a 400 - 500 machine but figured if i do trails with guys with big bikes then I would be holding the throttle down all the time to keep up. I also figure that when my wife comes with me the more power the better..Maybe next time she'll stay home lol..kidding...maybe... but you know what i mean. A little more snap with two on it...Just something to think about....

If anybody is from Pennsylvania and runs the poker runs they know the baddest and the roughest poker run in the state is the Madera Poker Run. I run my gear drive Eiger in the Madera Poker Run twice a year and I make it thru the course with no problem. There are 2 deep water holes, 4 mud holes, one water hole you have to make a 90 degree turn up a steep vertical hill, NO BELT DRIVE ATV MAKES IT! It looks bad when my manual Eiger has to pull out a Kodiak 450. I don't care what kind or brand it is, gear drive atv's are better!

 

I owned a prairie 360 before my bf650 and thought it was a great quad, its just slow. It was very reliable and had good bottom end power, it just lacks speed. The p360 and my bf650 both have cvt trans and I have never had any slipping problems with either one. Proper maintenance and using low range are important with the cvt. I get my bf in mud and water up to the racks with no problems from the cvt. I don't use the locker much but there are times when it makes a huge difference. The p360 would be my choice of the quads you listed because of reliability, the locker, best rear brake setup of any atv, great engine brake, high payload capacity and good low end grunt. When my brute was stock my old 360(sold to friend) and my bosses 360 could both do anything as far as technical riding goes, as my brute could.

No suprise there though the 450 is really a 421cc while the SP is 499cc. Also the SP has a high duration cam and a 40mm carb which gives it more get up and go than many other 500 Utility machine.

Don't believe for a moment that a 3x4 limited slip Eiger will go some where a 450 Kodiak in diff lock and low range can,t.

 

Honda does not use belt drives on any quads. The Rancher 400 AT is a fluid drive transmission. I would not recommend it for plowing snow. The current Rancher 350 is being replaced for 07 by the new 420. It is available in 2wd, 4wd foot shift, and 4wd electric shift (ES).
