Best Sport ATV for a Big rider
ok, I'm 6'3" and 250-300ibs (depending on season, I bodybuild) Im looking to buy my first atv. I plan on riding this thing at the dunes and do alittle cross-country racing with my buddies. Which sport atv would be the best? I plan on putting alot of performance upgrades in whatever machine I get but I dont know what I should start with.

I'm only about an inch shorter than you and just a bit ligther. I would not suggest one of the bigger sport quads.
Go with a 450. they have plenty of power to get you around and you can always raise the bars if they are too low for you. Plus at your size you'll be able to toss around a 450 like it's a toy. Taht's good because that makes it more fun to ride.
I used to have a KFX700 and it was a tank. Rides like a utilty quad.

Well, there is a reason the DS has a huge dune following, great stock suspension/engine package plus a huge aftermarket for it. Not to mention it is a big quad that the big guys seem to like. No reverse is the only downfall I see due to the sheer size of the quad, but I doubt you will need it in the dunes anyway. Sometimes it helps to factor in what your buddies all ride too. My bro and I ride the same quad, makes it easier trouble shooting when something breaks.

Go to the dealership and sit on all of them. Ride them if possible. Take a good look at the Yamaha Raptor 700 as well as the 450's. I say avoid the DS and Kawi if at all possible......consider these to be a last resort if absolutely nothing else will work for you......

If you ask me you only have 3 choices:
In no order.
#1 Bomb DS 650. Super nice quad for a big guy. Lots of go fast parts. Lots of torque. No reverse though.
#2 KFX 700. Another super nice quad for a big guy. Lots of go fast parts. Lots of torque. Belt and shaft drive. Walmart suspension.
#3 Yamaha Rappy. Another nice quad for a big guy. Lots of go fast parts. Lots of torque.
All three are good for what your trying to do.
IMHO if you get a 400 or 450 your going to look like Rosane in a thong. 450's are winder's not torque'ers. At 300lbs your going to need something with torque. Big guy's need torque.
