2000 Honda fourtrax 4x4: Should I buy?
#1
Hey everyone, just wondering if this is a good deal. I have found a Honda 300 four trax, 2000 model. They were asking $3700 and I have them down to $3200. It looks like new, has had about 3 tanks of gas ran through it. It is one owner with the guy being 70 years of age. It has the front and rear racks, 2000 lb winch, metal foot platforms. Does this sound like a good buy? By the way it starts right up and runs great! Will use mainly for hunting and some mild trail riding. I'm 46 and I don't think I'll be getting to wild with it. Honda's seem pretty reliable as I have an 82 honda 185S that still starts on the first pull and runs good. Thanks for anyone's input. I guess I just want someone else's reassurance before spending the money on this thing.

Just wanted to let you know that this is a 4x4 and it doesn't even have a scratch on it. The guy just rode it around his place, no 4 wheelin. I have seen the 4x2 going for a round $1800 - $2000. Maybe they are just priced higher here. Anyone else with any input. Thanks for the response.

The fact that it has been mostly sitting, isn't necessarily a good thing even though it has low mileage. Oil will go acid and break down, just sitting there in an unused engine.
I have an 00 Rancher (the 300's replacement). It has many improvements over the 300, like a transverse mounted engine, lighter, more power, torque sensing differential, etc. If I were selling my Rancher.....I could never ever get $3,200 for it. That price is to high!

I guess you guys are right, I'll look around for another one. Found a 06 350 Rancher 4x4 for $4200 new and may just go that route. Thanks for everyone's help! Just getting into 4-wheelin and that just looked like a good deal. But like you all said it is 7 yrs old now.

My dealer gave me 1500 for a trade in value on my 1993 honda fourtrax 300. It had ALOT of miles! That would make it almost TWICE the age of the one your talking about. It also had NO winch. But it ran like new. Those things are indestructible. I would have got him to 3000 even and took it
