The old Wolverine had the same engine as the Warrior, but that's absolutely all they had in common. I actually don't like the new Wolverine much either, but I sure do like the old Wolverine better than the new one.
He gave us a choice between two rather odball machines, neither of which I would personally waste my hard earned money on. There are so many wonderful machines out there, don't make the mistake of limiting yourself to just these two.......

About the no compression braking; ha ha ha ha ha.........if someone told me that I would tell them to learn to ride!!!! These are expert test riders? Ha ha ha ha ha.............I would point out what the left and right levers on the handlebar are for.
If you said you like to jump and MX then I would say that this is not the quad for you. You did not mention either so?????? If you just like to screw around, there is no better machine than the 700. If you want to jump and all of that other stuff, there are better machines out there.
Reconranger you fascinate me with your response. I know you don't like the 700. That is clear, and I'm cool with that. To each his own. What I find really bizarre is from your other posts you like the Warrior as much as the KFX 700. And yet you recomend a 4X Warrior? Pretty much that is what a wolverine is...... a Warrior with a 4X front end.
What's up with that?
If you would like you may suggest a different atv than the two i named. please also take into account that i want to have fun with it you know wheelies, donuts, spit mud at my friends that kind of stuff.

Then what would you reccomend?

Like most of the riders on the planet, what you really need is a 4wd sport quad! Trouble is, nobody makes one, but the Wolverine is a good first effort by Yamaha (but falls way short of the ideal).
You want to do fast trail riding, and the best tool for that job is one of the 400 class sport quads.
You want to ride in snow and that means you could use 4wd, but you didn't mention mud bogging or rock crawling or hauling something, so you don't seem to need a full-on utility.
You are average height and average weight (or even a bit on the light side), so you absolutely don't need to be on a big heavy monster like the 700.
Both the machines you picked are automatics. Are you afraid of having to shift????????
So certainly between these two machines, the Wolverine is the better fit for you. There aren't many other choices, if you are looking for something that is fast on the trail and has 4wd.
But for me, I'll take my fuel injected Rancher over the foo foo automatic Wolverine any time. It's fast and it's agile. It's to heavy for my taste, but that's its only negative.

Yes the wolverine is the automatic, but it is not all that boring and it works perfect. I would have liked to shift but its ok the way it is and it would not be the same if I had to shift.
If I had a true sport quad then yes I would like to shift (KFX 700 why auto?). As a fourwheel drive that is sporty then yes I actually like the auto.

I think the 700 is a great trail bike.I cant believe so many people dog them. They are heavy but if your not racing them I think they do just fine.I havent ridin the wolverine so I cant tell you which one is better but dont let anyone tell you the 700 is not a good trail bike.

I have several buddies that ride together and all have the 700. They are all big guys, and mostly duners. We have a nice set of 50" wide woods trails in our local mountains......they won't even attempt to ride them! They will however ride the wide fire roads that are at lower down the mountains, and one section of these is very technical. Last ride, they came back with stories of absolute disaster......rolled quads.....took them half a day to get through a 5 mile section.
I just don't see any type of terrain where the 700 excells.......

Both machines are listed at around 516 lbs. dry weight. They are two totally different quads. You should consider your riding areas/conditions and buy accordingly. Or just buy two so you can go anywhere, anytime.

Ok so I have decided on getting a new 2007 Wolverine 450. I have also chosen to get a K&N air filter, EPI clutch kit, and a GYTR Pipe. Someone reccomended also getting a Dynojet Jet Kit. Is it worth it? What will a jet kit do and how much will it help? Also Which pipe is better the GYTR or an HMF? Is there a noticable difference. And last is there anything else that will help increase performance?
