Ok first time post and new member so take it easy on me. Ok I am undecided between these two quads. I have been to both dealerships and looked at both. Each dealership talking up theres like I had figured even got a video from a yamha dealer showing the upside to the grizzly. So what I am asking you atv fanatics is which one is better for all around trail riding and mud abuse. I plan on taking it to wellsville (if still open) rumble on the ridge and other abandoned strip mines around the area. I would also like some input on some of the negative features. I have heard the BF has weak axles and that the old grizzly the belts got wet and slipped very easily. So give me the up and downs on these two quads and help me pick. I am going to be spending a lot of money so I want something that I can ride for a long time that is reliable. Thanks

My opinion is:
BF has more power. Other than that, i know the Kawi motor is very reliable. I am also a fan of the Grizzly. I would probably lean toward the grizzly, because ive always liked them. But it is a hard choice for me

Both are great but I would get to grizzly for the EFI. Heard many great things about the new grizzly, see if you can find some to let you ride each one and see what feels better to you.
I have a ride lined up for the brute force but I have yet to find anyone around here with the grizzly. I might have to go to a dealer to see if I can get a test ride on one.

I just picked up a BF about a week ago and love it. Now my brother in law and riding partner rides the 700 Grizzly, I have ridden it several times and its a great machine. Both of these ATV will do any thing you want they both about the same power BF dose have the edge but just a slight one. They will both tow/ hull about the same. Both of these are great choices 2 of the best on the market today. What made me decide on the BF over the Griz even though i had ridden the Griz several times and like it a lot was style and functions. I liked the placement of the led display over the Griz, I like that you shifted on the right and not the left, I like the cat eyes on the BF for better lighting on trails. There was not one main thing that made me decide on the BF over the Griz it just came down to person preference. Most of the ATV rating or shoot outs you will normally find them neck and neck, with the BF edging out because of a slight power advantage. My advice to you if just sit on each of them again, and make a list in your head of what felt best you because either way you go BF or Griz you will come out a winner best of luck and let us know how it came out.

I've never heard of the belts on the Yamahas getting wet and slipping. The Yamaha CVT transmission is one of the best, most reliable belt-driven units on the market.
One thing to also consider is that the Grizzly has been redesigned more recently than the BF - with Power steering to boot.

I have to dissagree. I think almost all the Wolverines ive been with had a bad time with water The Grizzlys are bullet proof though

The bf750 has 54hp and the griz700 has 49hp. The bf will be a great mudder as I know, but for an all around great big bore quad, the griz700 with efi and power steering is a great buy. If you just want power, the bf750 is the way to go, but if you want everything else, it is a close toss up, but I would say the griz b/c of the efi.
See we use to ride with a kodiak when the belt drive first come out and we were guarenteed to have to pull it out. I talked to the dealer on this issue and he said it must have been that bike and then he told me that the grizzlys vents to stop this problem. As for the issue on the BF my buddy just smoked the belt on his. He had to stop on a hill when an accident accured and when he went to take of it just smoked the belt and busting it. So I don't know if it was a torque issue or a low or high gearing issue.
I was also wanting to know what kind of aftermarket parts are available for the two. I know the exhaust are out there and the grizzly is getting more everyday.. I was thinking m,ore along the lines of power programmers for both. Things that can boost the horsepower and torque.

As far as the brute belt smoking, that is hard to tell. Mine has never had a problem and I have over 750 miles on it. The dealer just did my full service and checked the belt which they said look great. I have pulled a 16ft trailer with about 20-30 bails of hay several times and no problem. I make sure I used low range of course. With the aftermarket hop ups, the kawie v-twins have pretty much been the leader. There are several ignition modules, jet kits, springs, power chips, etc, etc, etc for the kawie vtwins. However, I do believe that aftermarket hop ups have been coming out for other manufactures now.
