Hi guys,
I'm set to upgrade from my Honda 350 Rancher. I am looking for something in the 500-650 range, and have my sights set on an Outlander XT-650.

I do have one concern though.... i hate automatic transmissions that whine. My 350 is the ES (electronic shift), so i have never had experience with automatic transmissions. I was completely turned off by polaris quads a few years back because you could hear them coming from a mile away with their high pitched whining.

Do all automatic transmissions whine? Some louder than others?

Anyone specifically know what the Outlander sounds like with it's CVT transmission?

 

i dont think they sound bad, only in break in period

 

They have the whine, but its a very nice machine.

 

the only automatic i have ever heard whining was a polaris Xplorer 400 2 smoke, I miss it, but it was starting to be really crappy, we never did any chain adjustments and before we knew it, the sprockets were getting bald and slipping frequently (i know it sounds weird but its true) it couldnt go up hills at all

 

Most of the noise comes from the engine breaking.

 

The KFX700s whine like a jet engine ...... but I don't hear anyone in the saddle complain about it.

 

I hear the whine come from all brands of ATV's. Its normal

 

I w0ouldnt complain if i owned one- they're so nice and torquey- wheelie monsters

 

Hi guys, well i did end up buying the Outty 650XT..... wow what a machine. Nice solid looking bike, a very smooth ride and absolute gobs of power. I am not sorry in the least that i bought it.

Oh and about the whine..... it's not bad at all.

 

i have two outlanders an 650xt and 800 max xt they are great go for it the dont have a lot of problems on them the transmissions on them are like a rock
