300EX to either a Predator or a 400EX
#1
This is my first post so I may ramble a little bit. In November of 2003 we bought my son a 300EX for his 11th birthday. I based this purchase on what I read in this forum. Reconranger seemed to be the leader in his endorsement of the 300EX as one of the best trail machines ever built. I must say after 3 1/2 years I agree. My son has ridden at Wolf Pen Gap, the Red River, the San Juan's in Colorado, and the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico. That machine has been through it all. This now brings me to my question. We currently own a Predator and I was planning on him moving to it this year. However, I would like to know if the 400EX is similar to the 300EX as far as moving through tight trails? I know the 400EX is more powerful than the 300. He likes riding the Predator and the power that it has, however, he moves back to the 300EX when we start trail riding. He is currently 14 years old, 5' 7" tall, and 185lbs. I believe he would give up the power for better trail riding capabilities. Thanks in advance for any response.

The 400ex is a great trail bike. It would suit your son perfect for his age and size. My friend has a 400ex and it provides power, reasonable speed, and good handling. Hope this helps.

The 400EX is as tough as they come. You can abuse it all day and you won't hurt it. It is a great all around bike. Awesome for trail riding, with a nice top speed. I think it would be perfect for your son.
