Default wrenching on 400ex and z400

I'm about to drop the money and buy a 400ex or z400. I like both quads and either one will fit the bill for the type of riding I do. I like to do my own maintenance, but, I'm no pro by any means. Along with oil changes, etc, I like to think I can tackle valve adjustments/checks and things like that. I just wanted some opinions on what would be the better quad for someone who likes to do their own maintenance.

They are pretty similar as far as the rountine things go.

I think the valve adjustment is more difficult on the Suzuki (but have to say that I have my valves done, so I don't know from first hand experience). Jetting the Suzuki is more touchy.

The Suzuki chain adjustment mechanism is absolutely ridiculous, compared to the slick Honda!
