Default which utility ATV

We are brand new to the world of ATV's and utility ATV's so bear with this post. My wife and I are retired in Western Kentucky and are ages 65 and 63 respectively. She has always wanted a golf cart for riding around the block with grand kids. After seeing the polaris utility vehicles in so many commercials, we have talked about getting a utility ATV rather than a golf cart. We would like to use the vehicle to casually ride in the woods on man made trails strictly for sight seeing and for minor use for maintenance on our property. We would have to trailer the vehicle to locations for sight seeing. We would carry no more than four people including the driver at one time. What vehicle do you feel would best need our needs with overall cost being a major factor. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. As indicated, we are new to the world of ATV's and I am not familiar with the terminology"2up's and side by side's". Could you please clarify. Thanks.

No mater who you are, and how carefull or experienced you are, everybody rolls their quad at some point. Imagine laying in the ditch with a 700+ pound rolled quad on top of you!!!

You will be way ahead on a "side-by-side" like the Rhino....something with a roll cage! That way, the wife gets here "golf cart", but it is also a trail worthy one....

a 2up is an atv designed for 2 people to ride like polaris x2,can-am's outlander maxx etc a side by side is like recon said a big golf cart with an atv motor like yamaha rhino, polaris ranger, rzr etc. almost everybrand makes a side by side not many have built a 2up. you can go to the manufacture websites and look at the diffrent makes and styles.

The only two manufacturers making utility vehicles that seat four people are Polaris with there Ranger or Kawasaki's Mule. The Mule is more of a work vehicle and not nearly as trail capable. The Polaris Ranger will be your best bet for both work and trail riding. Good luck and let us know what you get and how you like it.

Seriously, if you need to carry 4, maybe you just need a Jeep???? With the top off, you will still get that outdoor wind in your face feeling, and you have a vehicle that is street legal everywhere......

I think that a side by side utility vehicle would suite your needs best. There is the following choices...

Polaris Ranger
Polaris Ranger RZR
Yamaha Rhino
Kawasaki Mule
Arctic Cat Prowler
and the newest Honda something or another!

As stated the only ones cabable of carrying 4 are the Polaris Ranger and the Kawasaki Mule. The Mule is more work driven and the Ranger is designed to do either work or play. All the others have bucket seats and will only carry 2. The Standard Ranger has a bench seat that actually fits 3 adults comfortably, then theres the Ranger with double bench seats that will carry 6. Those bucket seats are more difficult to get in and out of, so I think the Polaris Ranger would definetely suite you best. It is also the only one with a single cylinder 500cc and a twin engine with 700cc and the RZR has the 800cc twin. It also has IFS and IRS, largest one in it's class, has a huge dump bed, and will still fit in the back of a pickup trucks bed. No doubt, get the Polaris Ranger!!!!
