Default Sport or Utility?

The 700R sounds like it would be a good fit for your position.....

But, the CanAm Renegade 800X H.O EFI (Link) would also be good, 4wheel drive sport bike, I dunno though, it's more expensive than the 700R. I guess you'll just have to see if you can test drive the 700R.

Good luck!

My uncle is 300+ and rides a Yamaha Raptor 700. He absolutley LOVES it. Even pulling his weight around, that sucker moves! Im a Utility guy myself for offroading and hauling a shitload of gear up rocky log covered trails But like said, the X2 will help you out if you need a little pull. The only disadvantage to the raptor is it has a VERY low ground clearance. Watch out for rocks, and get some skids!

i have a raptor 700 and love it. i am a bigger guy myself and it fit me very well. and yes it is normal that they dont let you ride the quad there. most places wont even let you ride the quad you bought to your car they have to.

Father/son Raptors would be cool. The 250 for the teen and 700 for dad perhaps? You can still find dealers that will let you test ride machines, but they are few and far between and may ask for a deposit, blah blah blah. Once you learn how to use your weight and momentum, you will be surprised at where the sport quads can go and what they can do. You have to remember also that all the sports are true posi. The rear axle acts as one solid piece, so they are all 2wd, not open diff like most cars. Anyways, the 700R is a trail beast. Lots of power and fairly plush suspension. Good luck shopping!

I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS YOU DECIDING WHAT MACHINE TO BUY AS I AM THE SAME HIGHT AND WEIGHT AS YOU SO I WENT W/ A POLARIS SPORTSMAN 600 WITCH I LOVE BUT AS TIME WENT I HAD THE NEED FOR MORE SPEED I STARTED LOOKINg AT SPORT MACHINES THAT HAD A GOOD ALLAROUND SUSPENSION AND HANDLING AND AFTER MONTHS OF RESEARCH I WENT W/ 700R AND COULDENT BE ANY MORE HAPPIER. THE MACHINE DOESNT DO JUST ONE THING GOOD IT DOES IT ALL AND ALL VERY WELL FROM TRAIL RIDING TO SAND RUNNING TO LIGHT RACING IT CAN BE DONE W/ THE 700R!! {AND ALL BONE STOCK MIND YOU}
ONE OF THE BEST FEATURES THOE IS THE FUEL INJECTION, WITH THE ALTITUDE AND WEATHER HERE IN COLORADO YOU DONT HAVE TO WORY ABOUT IT STARTING OR THE JETTING OF THE CARBS SOMTHING I CANT SAY ABOUT MY POLARIS.

TRUST ME YOU WONT GO WRONG BUYING THE 700R IT WILL BE SOME OF THE BEST MONEY YOU WILL EVER SPEND ON ANY ATV!
