I ride in all trails and need a good all around four wheeler and also need good power for going up hills and for riding in the occasional sand. I want something much faster than my yz 125. Ive been looking at the ltz/kfx400 for a while and would buy one used but then i started looking at the raptor 660r. Ive been reading alot of reviews about them being tippy. But i dont think this will be a problem being a trail rider. The other question is whether to buy a used raptor now for around 3300 or so or to save up for a few months and POSSIBLY get financing on the raptor 700. The raptor kinda scares me though just it being the 700 and all. Especailly coming off of a yz 125. Is the raptor 660 still a good quad or is the 700 truly the way to go.

 

not sure of your age or size but the 250 raptor might be a good choice.if you ride rough trails the 525irs outlaw would be the better trail quad.the 700 rappy is alot better quad than the 660

 

Im 15 and am 6 foot and 230 pounds. to me the ltz 400 seems a good chopice but i just dont know if it will be as fast as i would want. Is the raptor 660 still a good four wheeler. keep in mind this is going to be my first 4 wheeler.

 

your 15 you deffinatly shouldnt go jump on a raptor its quite a bit faster then a yz125 the z is also a quick fourwheeler. i wouldnt recomend any of what you said for your age and the fact you are just starting atving the raptor 250 frame would be to small for you....i think you should look into a 300ex or so beccuase quads are nothing like a puny 125 and people think well since it has 4 weels i cant get hurt... thats bs quads are dangerous and also when you hear a quad is tippy dont just blow it off and say well it prolly wont bother me cuz i ride trails... you dont want a quad tippy at all trist me it will hurt you when you are riding trails fast but the raptor 660 isnt really tippy but its scary fast if you dont know how to ride. i would recomend something like a 300ex or raptor 350 or possibly a 400ex but not no z400 or raptor or outlaw

 

I have both of these quads. I would recommend the z400 for you. I bought one for my wife as her first quad. I think it is a great machine. It handles better than my raptor and has plenty of power stock. It has a huge aftermarket also, so you can make it faster down the road. You have the size for the Raptor but they are very fast and can easily become a handful if your not careful or inexperienced. Its probably best to start smaller and gain some experience before going so big.

 

A four wheeler like the 300 ex is fine but i can easily handle a yz 125 and occasionaly ride my freinds kfx450. I think im going to go with the ltz400. Ive been reading lots of reviews and its all thumbs up.

 

but if you want the raptor wait and get the 700 it is much better.

I'm more of a utility rider, but you'll never go wrong with the z400. As you mentioned it's been voted the best all around trail machine in its class for many years. It has lots of aftermarket parts and good resale value. Good luck, have fun, stay safe and please don't pipe the machine.
