I need a new trail machine i sold my ds650 and now am thinking of getting a 2004 raptor 660, z400, or trx450r. I ride semi-open trails, sand, gravel, dirt and also like to jump and wheelie? cost is a factor 3000 or less.

 

Skip the 660, they are narrow and have a high center of gravity, and that makes them a bit tippsy.

The Z400 is a solid, great all-around machine.

The 450R is all rev, and it doesn't like to go slow. Not the hot setup for slow technical trails (lots of clutch slipping required), but absolutely screams out in the open.

 

if i got the 660 i would widen the front 4.5 iches and rear 5 inches that shoud stablize it right?. whatever i get im doing that to it.

 

also im worried about if the z400 can keep up with a fast paced ride with yfz, raptors, and other 450's
