LOOKING TO BUY THE PERFECT 2UP QUAD
#11
I have an '07 X2 500 EFI. The only drawback is the comfort of the passenger's seat. The low back and narrow bottom is OK for smaller passengers, but not for larger ones. Polaris now has a Touring Model that basically does away with the dump bed and places a more comfortable seat and passenger handles on the rear rack. I would give that a serious look if I had it to do over again.

I have not read anything or experience anything negative about the fuel injection system. ATV starts right up whenever you push the start button. I always wait until the system runs through its cycle and the gauges settle down. Then I push the start button.

I would highly recommend that you try the '08 Polaris Touring machine. We were in the market for a two-up machine and we looked at all three of the choices. My feelings: AC - I wouldn't have one in the garage if it came free and with the mechanics to keep it running. Can-am Outty - they really lack storage space and my wife (passenger) decided that the seat was very uncomfortable with that huge saddle horn and no adjustment between it and the seat back. Polaris X2 - this is the machine that converts from a dump back to a marginal 2-up machine. The seat is like sitting on a brick and the seat back is almost not there. Polaris Touring (New out in 2008) This machine was built from the ground up as a two-up trail-riding machine. Ride is very stable, comfortable ride, most comfortable second seat according to my wife, a good amount of storage built in. love the rear lights - two of them and the ability to add working back up lights! We got the 500 EFI, would get the 800 if doing it again, not because the 500 is underpowered, just because....more power is always better. Also the new decent control system is the best on the market.

Thanks Bradford309. Just took one for a test ride this weekend, think I'm going to go with it. Seems like a great price, what options did you go with if any.

Well, our first ATV was a '03 Sportsman 500 HO. Didn't know squat about buying then and it came stock w/o any accessories. Added them piece meal and they cost a bunch. This time I had made a list of the accessories we wanted and the prices if I bought them from Pure Polaris. When we started talking about price, we ended up getting the whole thing for less than another dealer wanted for stock. What did we get? #2500 Warn winch, Special blue painted version rather than plain plastic, fron & reaf tube bumbers, and fron & rear hand protectors. I have since added the mod for the driving lights and the mod to make the back-up lights operational. Alos a rear storage box from Koplin. I am now thinking about fender mud skirts.

My feeling on the Polaris is as follows - would have to give up 4 wheeling if they were the only choice to ride. Have to many friends that have ridden them in the past. Seems when going on rides that they always carry many extra parts with them (a-arms, brake parts, etc).
