Default Buying from non local dealers

I've found a dealer that's about 185 miles from me that beats all local dealers by $1000 or more depending on model. All local dealers say " No way can he sell bikes that cheap. Something is fishy." I've checked the Better Business Bureau and they give this dealer a thumbs up. I know I may have problems with warranty work at local dealers if I bought from an out of town dealer but to save $1000 or more it's very tempting. This dealer sells all over the southeast and even delivers for a very reasonable fee. He sells Polaris, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Can Am. I'd name the dealer so all could check his prices online but I don't want folks to think I'm advertising instead of asking a question. Would you buy from a dealer 185 miles away to save $1000 to $1300 on a new atv or utv?

The non-local dealer could have some hidden fees like setup, transportations, etc. But, if he is on the up and up, I would use this against my local dealer to try and get closer on the numbers. Either way, I would still buy local. I guess it's a matter of how much $1,000 is worth to you and whether or not you are willing to travel 185 miles to get parts....because if you don't support your local dealer, he will eventually go away! just my 2 cents!

Make sure you go with OTD prices. Some places advertise a low sell price then start adding on setup - shipping fees & such. I searches a 90 mile radius of my home and the best deal was the 2nd closest one which I had bought my last 3 machines from. Did not even check the closest as he done screwed me once already.

This guy has quoted OTD prices and still beats the heck out of everyone. Even including delivery to my house he's almost $1000 cheaper.

I bought my Rhino from a dealer that was 230 miles away. I had priced the model of Rhino I wanted at the local dealer, then at a dealer that was 50 miles away, and then called the farther away dealer that I have bought several ATVs from in the past. OTD price at the farther away dealer was $1400 less, so I told him over the phone I would take it. My wife drove to the dealer and picked it up the next day (I was on call for work that day).

I'd say go for it... I DID

I bought a 08 sportsman 800 yesterday from a Tennessee dealer, which was 135miles from my house. my local dealer, the same one I bought a 08 500 HO 3 weeks ago, was almost $2000 dollars higher, and he wouldn't budge...

So i went north and got a 08 800 with a winch for $6700 out the door...

For a lil bit I will support local (IF they are a good dealer) But for major $'s I can travel a bit. Also factor in service/parts after the sale.
