I have a piece of crap kazuma 150cc chineesee brand quad and i am 5'11" and weigh 255 pounds i am looking for a different quad that will actually accomadate my size and weight. i was looking at a 400ex or maybe a yamaha warrior. I would really appreaciate any suggestions or input from some of you with more experience. i will be looking to spend $1000-$2800 and i will be riding trails in the woods andin the fields by my families property. Best choices would be a used Z400 or 400 EX. It will be a little hard to find a good one under $2,800, but it can be done. You should easily be able to find a used Warrior for that price - the same basic bike has been around since the late 80's. Any of those will handle your size and weight - worlds better than a Kazuma 150.

A used 400ex should be a good deal. If you can't swing one, a used Warrior should still bring more enjoyment than that Kazuma.

I rode a Warrior for many years. Pass this one up! Yamaha didn't get it quite right on this one, or on the Raptor 660.

One of the 400's is a good bet. These are high quality machines, that will run forever with just basic maintenance. Should be able to find a used one in your price range.

At your weight, you may want to get a stiffer spring on the back shock, and have it revalved.

 

400ex is the best used machine you can buy on a budget IMO..........

The early used z400s can be trouble because a lot of them were raced and raced hard...... I love my z400 if you were buying new I would recommend it over the 400ex.......

But used, the 400ex is more likely to have been ridden mostly on trails and woods by older riders.....I mean they were raced too but there are a lot of them out there that were just trail machines............ the z400 got all caught up in the new 4-stroke revolution and until the 450s hit the scene they were the race machine of choice for a couple years there so a lot of those 2003/2004 z400s were raced......
