My best friend bought a Breeze for his youngest son and it was the worst ATV he ever had. It was always breaking and had the engine rebuilt 3 times in 3 months or something like that. It may have just been a lemon but I've never seen an ATV that bad. His other Yammys were all pretty good but that one sucked.

my lil cuz has a breeze 125 and its been a good quad, i dunno about the motor locking up part but the brakes are horrible, and it goes through plugs like clockwork. but other then brakes and plugs its been good. he was riding his bros 97 blaster so plugs and brakes come natural, but it was to powerful for him and they went and got him the breeze. with the govener off it ran beside a bayou 220. im sure the bayou could have pulled away but it wouldnt have completly stomped the 125. i still stand by the phoenix for a first timers quad.

every night the boogeyman checks under his bed for chuck norris...

I think my friend's Breeze was just a lemon. There's no way they can all be that bad. But the dealer took it back and they got a Blaster. The mom got that and the boy got her old Blaster. They have stage 1 kits in them and haul a$$. They're good for teenagers but too much for younger kids.

I think a Raptor 250 would be an ideal ATV for a pre-teenager. They are mellow, and very managable. The power is smooth and torquey, and can be toned down with the throttle limiter screw. They are light and good handling, and easy for a young person to ride. And they are an ATV that a young person can grow into, and can enjoy for many years.

We bought our 11 year old son a Raptor 250 a year ago when they first came out, and he has done real well with it. There have been no crashes, or other problems what so ever. He ONLY rides the Raptor when he has direct parental supervision though. A parent should NOT just put their kid on an ATV and turn them loose, expecting the ATV to do the baby sitting for them. And that is the case for any ATV, even if you put your kid on a 125cc ATV instead of a 250cc ATV. It is the parental supervision that is needed, not the engine size of the ATV. A Polaris 200cc is heavier and more difficult to manage for a young person than the lighter and better handling Raptor 250 would be. I personally think the Phoenix 200cc ATV would be a poorer choice of ATV for a young person than a Raptor 250 would be.

Our son is now 12 and is doing better and better on the Raptor 250. Here is a picture from a trail ride we did two days ago. The 12 year old rode his Raptor 250 on an 80 mile ride on the Paiute Trail in Utah, at elevations up to 11,490 feet. We have owned the Raptor 250 for a year, and it has been essentially maintenance free, with only one chain adjustment, one air filter cleaning, and one oil change being needed in the last year.
