What ATV to buy?
#1
I'm looking for a new ATV and need some help.
I am going to visit some dealers tonight, but wanted to get some insight into Polaris from the people who ride them. Spare no details! I want the dirt on the good, the bad and the ugly.

I want insight into any ATV... not just Polaris. Please give me dirt on the machines you own and what you recommend. I know you have favorites - but let me know what you honestly feel - regardless of what you own. thanks!

Everyone will tell you what there fav machines is so I will give you the fact about a Polaris. The Popo's are known to have the best ride of any 4x4 atv, they are also known for being the heaviest quad avail, they are not the fastest but deff not the slowest of the 4x4's, Poloris in genral have more storage that any other, polarise's also come stock probobly with the best set of tires than any other quad.
I will say if you buy one just get one with EFI you will appreciate it long run if you do!
Polaris has a all new 09 quad called the XP comming out soon.
If I were you I would also take a good look at a Yamaha Grizz 550/700 they are winning allmotst all the magazine 4x4 shootouts.

What type of riding are you going to do? Are you looking more at a utility or a sport model? Trails or tracks?
Just a few things that will help you get pointed in the right direction.

I'm doing the average trail trip here and there. I also like it to go to and fro at the lake during the summer. An all-purpose / mid-size would be great.
I am not leaning any way - just want the dirt on what to move towards and stay away from. thanks!

Another question. What do you all look for when buying? How much should I consider customer service at my dealer? Or, resale? Or other things? There has to be more than just the decision of what make/model right?

Ask the dealer if you can look in the service department. Not a full tour, but enough so you get an idea of how well kept the area is. Chances are, a dirty shop isn't going to be the ideal place for repairs.
Don't base your decision solely on a nice sales person. They may not be much help if you do have a problem.
Don't let a salesperson "push" you into one brand. Especially if they sell more than one. Some people have been told brand X was much better than brand Y, both on their sales floor. If they can't give you the positives, and only negatives of the other, you have to wonder why are they even selling the other brand.
Resale is subjective to the market at the time, and the condition of the quad.
