Default '97 250 Timberwolf 4X4 for sale - good price?

I found a '97 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4X4 with a snowplow for sale on craigslist. The guy is asking $1900. He says he bought it from a close friend who only used it to plow snow. He says that it still has the original tires with alot of life left in them. Is this a good price? Seems a little high to me. I was thinkin' something more like $1500. Are there any common problems on these machines that I should look for? Thanks.

It's a good machine, but it's old and outdated. $1,900 is way high, as is $1,500. As a comparison, you can find Suzuki Ozarks or Honda Recons that are 2002 models for around $1,800 - they are much better bikes and newer too.

NADA says Low Retail $860, Average Retail $1,130. A used snowplow isn't worth much, so IMO $1,200 wouldn't be a good deal but not too bad either. Anything much more than that is a rip-off.

Thanks for the input people. After reading your replies and thinking about it, $1500 does sound like too much. It's pretty far from me (about an hour). I'd say it's highly unlikely that the guy would take $1000, or even $1200, so it would probably be a wasted trip. Maybe I'll just keep watching craigslist to see if he comes down with the price. It's not really what I want anyway, it's just that we got hammered with about 14" of snow this past weekend and the snowblowing and shoveling is really getting old and just about anything 4 wheel drive is out of my price range.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
