I have been through this too. Some dealers wont give you their best price until you are ready to buy right then. I think they even make you sign something saying if they get the price right you are obligated to purchase. They are trying to stop people from shopping around like others said, calling every dealer trying to get them to beat eachother up for the best price.
I told the dealer that did this to me, that if they couldnt give me a price I was leaving and they were missing a chance to make a sale. They let me walk right out the door.

I ended up shopping around by calling all dealers and negotiating over the phone (much easier and faster to get to the point)

I ended up traveling about 200mi to get the best deal. Saved me about $1000 and I found exactally what I was looking for.

isn't it unbelievable that they just let you walk out???????? it's like they don't even care. i will be starting my quest(battle) this week. i think i will have the cash on me and if they play games, i am going to pull it out and say "LAST CHANCE" i now know what a fair price is so it will be interesting. i will phone first then follow up with an instore visit to the ones with the best price.

 

found some prices but a new dilemma has emerged. 2008 450 camo (i like the camo) 5800 otd or step up to a 750 green (no camo) but only 300 more . 6100 otd? should i pay the extra for a 750 but not camo or just stick with the 450? rebates on 08 king quads 450$ for the 450 and 750$ for the 750. seems like a lot more quad for only 300 bucks? thoguths?

thats what i was saying earlier in this post. For 300 bucks id get the 750.

 

both have efi right ? haven't really looked at the 750 at the deal yet? dont know differences except bigger motor and third headlight on handlebar. i guess for 300 more i will settle for the green lol although i do like the look of camo. i originaly looked at a 450 green prices keep going up^^^^^^^^^^^^^ hundred here 200 there my 5000.00 quad has gotten more expensive should have just waited then walked in and bought the 450 green. lol

 

Yes they both have efi. I dont know what i thinking earlier. how much are they wanting for them?
