Default New atv

I would like to get a new ATV i have a 80 cc LT 80
I would just like to go up and down the local creeks and railway tracks
which would be better a 2X4 or a 4X4
i was looking at a 2008 yamaha raptor 250 for around 2200$
would there be any thing around that price that is better?
i really wouldnt like anything used unless its from a dealer
i live near buffalo ny
thanks for any suggestions

well, for the money the raptor is a wonderful buy. They are very light, reliable and fun for someone steping up from an 80cc ATV I don't think you could find a better buy.

As to issues like sport quad vs utility and/or 2wd vs 4wd, only you know your personal riding conditions! If the little LT has served you well, then a sport quad will be the hot ticket!!!

If a 2wd sport quad will do the job, then the Raptor 250 is a superb next step up for a kid who has outgrown their little beginner quad, at an excellent price!

If you feel like you need a small 2wd utility (high ground clearance, racks, and fenders for mud protection), then something like the Honda Recon is a superb machine.

If 4wd is necessary, then you are going to have to take a bigger step up to a mid size machine like a Honda Rancher.

The Honda 250EX is kind of a hybrid machine. It is really a Recon is sport plastic, and will do anything the Recon will, yet it is a whopping 50 pounds lighter....so it performs that much better. It is however, not going to be as sporty as the Raptor.
