Default Should I Trade in?

Hey fellas been a while since i posted lol. Want some opinions here, went with buddy to carry his 07 750 to a semi-local dealership for repairs and noticed a red 750 brute that had been there a while. Long story short, it is a '09 FI 750 that was just a demo model-53miles. I was like man bet they have a good price on that, 6500 to be exact. Nearly 3k off the sticker...so it started aggin at me lol. My '06 650i is in super great shape, worth every penny of 3.5k-4k on trade in. Thinkn of going saturday and trading it in on the 09 Fuel injected 750. I would basically be getting a new machine for about 1.5k to 2.5k$ A couple questions. 1. Is the FI 750 IN FACT faster in a standing start drag than the 650i. Some people try to argue, but hands down my 06 650i is faster than 06-07' ish 750s. UNLESS raced in high-torque areas...sand etc. I promise, my best friend has the 07 750 previously mentioned up there, and i would win even on rolling start races.(Yes this is important to me lol.) I would feel kind of dumb going up in size and down in quickness. I read that fuel injection helped the 750s a ton in throttle response and how quick they are. 2. My 06 650i is WELL maintained, is this a fair trade of value in respect to both sides? I appreciate any responses, this is tuesday night, going up there saturday morning, kind of looking forward to acquiring the FI 09 750 even though '11s getting ready to roll out.......gonna wait a couple years for a new big bore brute Please respond and thanks in advance. JOE

Boy this would be a tough call! Bout the only thing I think you would be upgrading to is slightly better power and EFI other than that I dont see much of a advantage. If you were to gain something like power steering than this might be another story. More than likely you will loose some MPG for slightly more HP on top of things. Everything I have read on the Brute's put the 650 right in the sweet spot of all that is good of the BF quads. For me I guess it would boil down to what they give you for a trade in. If its not every penny that you are looking for out of the 650 I think I would just walk away, and smiling while doing so!

You're going to lose money trading in your quad. It may be worth 3-4k to you, but you're not buying it to sell again. I'd bet they offer about 2500.

Check KBB and see what they say trade in is. Of if you have a bank or credit union, call them and ask. They'll have the most up to date information.

Selling it yourself will get you the most money out of your investment.

Exactly. if you are basing your decision on that $3,500 to $4,000 figure for your trade-in then you are in for a shock. You'll be lucky to get $3K for it, especially if the 'new' bike is as deeply discounted as you say. If you really want the best deal, then sell your bike first, then buy the new one.

Thanks for the replies, I'm telling the exact figures I promise. Got to remember this is a demo bike and has 53 miles on it. I got the 3.5-4k from a previous visit several months earlier when i asked out of curiousity what they would offer me on trade. At that time they estimated 3.8k. Honest to goodness. Also keep in account its an 09 and 11s are comin. Thanks yall

More bubble bursting - sorry.

That $3,800 figure means nothing. Not that they were lying to you but that's what they might give you on a trade if you were buying a brand new bike at full MSRP. Go back with intent to trade and buy the deeply discounted demo bike and they will offer you much less. Not what you want to hear but that's the way it works.

The only way you can know for sure though is to go ahead and talk to them and see what kind of deal they are now willing to offer.

Ah man the bubble bustin is cool lol. I went ahead and done the deal, i got 3K on trade in, left me owing 3500 for a new FI 750. I love it, starts much easier, throttle response is way better. There is no question what-so-ever, the FI 750s are much quicker and faster than the old carb 750s. I now have plenty riding experience on all 3. I really liked my 06 650i, but the 750 is much more comfy and smoother, and definitely has much more topend. It was pulling teeth for my 650i to hit 70mph, i easily surged past 70 doing breakin runs at diff rpms. Thanks for info though bud.
