I was also in this situation not long ago (Deciding which quad to buy) I ended up going with a used z400 and so far love it.

The only thing is it has a full Yoshimura pipe so I can't really comment on stock z400 power but with the pipe and k&n filter it hauls *** and I'm 6ft, 260lbs I love the way it handles too turns tight.

Hope this helps,
-Tony

So, going against everything i was told on here today i picked up a 2005 Raptor 660r. Had looked at a few different quads (no other raptors), found this very close (like literally 1.5 miles from me) on craigslist and decided what the hell it's 5 minutes away mid as well check into it. After sitting on it and riding around a little it didn't feel nearly as tall and awkward as i had remembered it. One owner quad, engine looked and ran immaculately, all stock aside from a few cosmetic things such as nerf bars, nicer handle bars, front bumper, shock covers, etc(also gave me all the original parts plus a bunch of riding gear that was easily a few hundred new).

Overall i'm quite happy with it. Definitely doesn't handle as bad as most people say (imo), i guess we will see a little more when i take it in some tight trails. Can always do some handling mods down the road should i not be satisfied.

And of course a picture. Most of those stickers are now off, stickers all over the place just isn't my thing.

It dosen't really matter what other people say, you have to ride it. If you like it then that's what matters. Good looking bike.

As long as you are happy, ride on! I would ride a 660 over a lot of other machines(like your old Blaster!) they just aren't my thing. You can get original front YFZ shocks to fit on that thing and they really help the handling and jump landings. Just have to grind a bit off the shock mounts and they will bolt right up. I sold a pair to a guy with a 660. Rode his before and after putting my shocks on and it was a huge improvement. The extra weight of the 660 makes them ride much plusher than on the 450 as well.

Thanks, Rob.
So how much did you pay for that Raptor, I'm just curious. Congrats, by the way.

DS 450s are priced right. I just bought a 2008 DS 450 today. It has the upgraded DS 450 X billet clutch, Can Am race specific ECM, aftermarket bars, aftermarket front and rear bumpers, with a six pack rack on the rear, aftermarket tires and wheels (new, still have the nubbies on the tires), an FMF Factory 4.1 full exhaust, a Power Commander EFI tuner, and has been geared up three teeth on the rear sprocket with a new gold DID chain. And get this, it has a grand total of 20 miles on it. The owner bought the bike two years ago, did all the mods, and parked it in his garage. It looks absolutely brand new, the exhaust still smells new when you start the quad. I paid $3500 for it.

Even new DS 450s are cheap. If you can find a new left over 2008 (one of the dealers I went to had four of them) there is a $2000 rebate from Can Am, and an $800 incentive that goes to the dealership. So you can theoretically buy one for $2800 below invoice if the dealer is willing to discount his incentive money. That means a brand new DS 450 for $4200.

@Scooter86, will definitely consider the YFZ shocks. Will have to keep my eyes open for a good deal on some.

And a pic after i got the stickers off and cleaned it up a bit.

Ever look at a Predator or Outlaw? You can find an 07 IRS Outlaw in that range if you look hard enough, a lot of Outlaws out there for $3000. I know there are a ton of Predators "straight axle" for under $2500 on Craigslist.
