Even the much more exspensive http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...2=199409&go=Go 450 Grizzly never comes close to the Sportsman 500 in any Shoot out . Here are 3 of many.

Even If the Sportsman 400 was in these it would beat out the 450 Grizzly since it really is the same ATV as the 500H.O almost ,just a 5cc less displacement with a smaller 34mm carb vs a 40mm.
Both the BigBear and 450 Grizzly are smaller Mid size frame ATV with less power yet cost more then the full size framed 400/500 Sportsman . Its just odd.
The cheapest full frame/chassis ATV Yamaha makes is the 550 Grizzly, and by the looks of things you can get a Sportsman 800 Twin cylinder for cheaper and it has more power then a 700 Grizzly.

Well, I'm not sure who you are directing all your facts, figures and links at? (somebody needs to get a life
)
If it was my post... yea, I don't really consider the 450 Grizzly a "Grizzly". Although, it's probably a great bike for the "fairer sex" or for smaller riders. I was talking more about the 550 Grizzly, but it is considerably more money.

We have had both of these quads in our family...I bought a new 400 BB in 2008 and my dad bought the 400 polaris new about the same time. I am sure that everyone has had different luck with different machines but here is what I found--Polaris...very peppy engine, small frame (which I think that they have changed since 08), only allowed for a 1500 warn winch, good trailrider...OVERHEATED EVERY TIME WE WERE OUT to the point that it spewed antifreeze out (dealer said nothing wrong with it)...sold the bike at the end of the season. Big Bear...low geared (52 mph on the road in WV top speed), sealed rear brake is bulletproof, low on power, tires are good, no problems with cooling (fan rarely even ran), very simplistic design, not a sport quad by any stretch, locking front diff for the mud...just sold the quad (2300 miles) and upgraded to the 2011 Gizzly 550. Maybe I am too loyal to Yamaha (and don't want to get in the brand vs brand argument), but I would not buy a Polaris...many people love them (don't get me wrong)...that is just my .02!!

That was just a mudhole along a trail where we ride...one of those things that starts with "Bet you can't get through that..." Once I was stuck, my brother then gets the great idea to ride through and try to roost me...but never got far enough in to get me with any mud! That is not the usual terrain, we do general trail riding...not something that should cause the quad to overheat...we tried the running with no cap on radiator and as a last source took to a dealership and their answer was that there wasn't anything wrong with it....deal with it overheating!! Part of the problem that the polaris had was the fact that the winch was right in front of the radiator therefore making it hard to clean and hard to get air through...Hard to keep a quad that it overheating 75 miles from the truck...that is a long tow back!!!

I know the bike wasn't in your list, buy if you could find a leftover 450 King Quad (they don't make them anymore starting in 2012) you would have an extremely capable, reliable, and fun to ride bike. I've had 3 King Quads over the years, and comparing reliable and quality versus the PoPo's I had is... well... a joke.
