Default URGENT: 2010 Sportmen 500 touring or 2008 Can am 650 Max for $1400 more??

O.K.

Finally down to two bikes and I need to decide tonight/tomorrow. I have been looking for about 6 weeks now and finally found two that I like. Prices are canadian and compared to what's out there, they are the best deals going.

Option 1:

2010 Polaris Sportsman 500 Touring
464 km's, 74 Hours
Windshield, Winch
$5800

Option 2:

$7000 ($1400 more)
2008 Can Am Outlander Max
550 km's, 80hrs
Winch, BNIB 60" Plow

Both machines are clean and in excellent shape. I will be using the bike lightly around the cottage plowing the lake and riding the trails. I won't be doing any heavy mudding or anything crazy.

This is my first quad but I am very experienced motorcyclist and have motocross racing experience so I'm not concerned about the power.

Main question is... is the can am worth the extra $1400??

Thanks for your help.

Yes, the 650 Outlander Max is worth the extra $1400 over the Touring 500. It's closer to power to an 700-800 class machine and has gobs more rack space. And the plow makes clearing snow fun. Put one on my machine last fall. Am very glad I did.

Only things I don't like about that year Max is the front axle, when you put it in 4wd, takes a bit of time to engage compared to the Polaris system. They fixed this around 2011 and newer machines have a quicker engaging system. The other thing is that the spar frame (Box that runs the length of the quad that is the main strength of the quad) is kind of weak in comparison to other makers. You can fix this with a frame insert made out of high molecular weight plastic or aluminum or you can put 1.25 box tube aluminum or steel in there to strengthen it.
