Default banshee or 250r

Hi, I was wondering if I could get some help from you guys. Im looking into another quad for ice racing (currently running a 400ex) and was wondering what would be better overall. Banshee or 250r in terms of reliability, cost to upgrade/buy parts, availibility of parts, handling, power, bottom and top end, etc. Right now im stuck in the middle, I know the brand new rims I bought this year wont fit on a banshee, and if I did use them for summer on my 400, theres a good chance they will get bent up, even though their itp baja's with the reinforcement ring. I was also looking at running unstudded in winter too. I dont want to lose a bunch of money on these rims and tires, but by next ice season I will hopefully have a newer 450r. Would it be smarter to just run a 450 for summer and winter since I run mx also? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

The 250R is better in most of those categories, the noticeable one would be top end power where it obviously loses to a healthy Banshee. Availability of parts is still good for both machines and I don't see that changing in the next few years.

Likewise a 450R would be great for either ice or mx. I could see the advantage to having a dedicated mx ride and a dedicated ice ride though

Yeah. Thats what I was thinking with those stupid twins. Its just that those 250r's are so hard to find in decent condition for a decent price

Keep in mind that almost everything you will do to the banshee is x2.

I have ridden both quite a bit and like them both very much. If I were going to spend most of my time in the sand, wide open dune riding, I would lean toward the banshee. That 350 twin is sweet once you get in the midrange. If I were going for an all-around machine, I would definitely choose the TRX250R. But, that is MY personal preference. Spend some time in the saddle on both and decide which is best for you.

Thanks. I think im going to go for the 250. Cheaper if something goes wrong and less of a chance that something will go wrong. Plus I dont want to throw away the $900 I put into ice tires and rims a few months ago because they wont fit a banshee

I don't think that you will be disappointed. Of all the race/sport quads I have ridden, and I have ridden lots of them, the TRX250R is my favorite.
