Default Looking for a used quad..

I have been looking and found a couple that piqued my interest (well, in my price range).

2006 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO

2011 Yamaha Kodiak 350

Two different machines I know. I'm a big guy, and I'm wondering about the comfort of the Yamaha for me. Also would want to ride 2up for short periods, not sure how the Kodiak would go. I know the 350 wont be the same performer as the 500. I'm ok with that....Opinions welcome...

I'd probably keep looking, not a Polaris fan. What's your budget? If you ride 2 up on a bike with a 50" or less WB, be very careful going up hill with a rider on the back. I ride my wife 2 up on my 50" wb AC 500, always make her get off going up the steep stuff.

Default Polaris

Hi, My budget is $3000 Canadian. Only a few "newer" quads available around here at this price.

I have heard used quads do cost much more in Canada than they do down here in the U.S. For $3000 down here, you can get a used Grizzly 660. Granted most of them in that price range have a lot of miles on them though. A Kodiak 450 would be a better choice than the 350 though. The 450 has quite a bit more power. I'd look and see if you can find a used Suzuki Vinson. Might be hard to find though as they're getting more rare each year. I just looked at my local craigslist and found one near me for $3000, a 2007 model. They built them from 2002 to 2008 I believe. And they were in both a fully auto cvt model and a foot shift semi-auto version as well so if you want the auto version, make sure that's what it is before you look at it. Actually here's another one but its a bit farther from me. Nice quad for $2500 though, will at least show you what it is http://bgky.craigslist.org/snw/5809839740.html

I've had my Sportsman 500 EFI for 8 years and have had one problem with it. The ADC broke and I got it fixed. Then it broke again and I got it fixed again at no charge. It might be broken again. I don't know because I never use it. No other problems at all.

Default Thanks

Thanks all. I went there and he had the sportsman 500, Kodiak 350 and a kodiak 450. I test drove all three. The 350 was a bit under powered, The 450 had acceptable power, but I just seemed to fit/feel better on the 500. That and it seemed to be in better shape than the others. It also had EFI and only has 1800 miles -- apparently was owned by an old man who just used it to get to his hunting spot. It has a tiny gash in the seat, and one of the floorboards has a small crack in the side. Other than that, it looked pretty solid, so I went with that one.

Sounds good. 500 efi is a solid choice.

I see you have the same problem I have, the front bumper sticks out too far. I put a couple blocks of wood in the front of my truck bed to chock the front tires so the front bumper doesn't smash my rear glass.
