Default 2x4 or 4x4

I'm really not sure which to get, a 2x4 or a 4x4. My dad wants a 4x4 as he thinks we will need it for towing a trailer which weighs about 150kg up a hill at a 40 degree angle at most, that will be the hardest thing it will have to do. Is it worth getting a 4x4 for that or just get a 2x4 as it will mainly only be used for trail riding in my backyard (20 acres). Thanks and please reply

Get a 4x4 with a winch. Would you buy a 2wd Jeep? Might as well buy a golf cart as a 2wd model, hehe.

I would suggest the 4x4, you don't always need 4wheel drive but when you do,........the 2x4 won't get the job done.

I should also say, if you want to sell it later or trade in, a 2wd is going to be worth much less.

Go for a 4x4. It's more practical.

A 4x4 can go anywhere a 4x2 can but not the other way around. 2WD will get most of the job done but 4WD is better for work.

The one thing to remember is that a 4x4 quad will cost more. 2wd utility quads will cost less, especially used. Everyone would buy the biggest and baddest 4x4 quad or utv if cost wasn't important. You can find a decent 2wd used utility quad for around $1500, expect to pay about twice that for a nice used 4x4 utility quad or more. Just something to think about. 4x4 is handy to have for sure. If conditions get muddy or you ride in the winter, a 2wd quad just won't do very well.

Default Thanks Greg

Yeah, I've seen that on websites, 4x4 say are about 5000, 2x4 for the exact same quad are going for 2500. As I said before ⬆️, I am in Australia so no snow where I live, but if it gets a little rainy especially where I live, some mud may appear, but only small. So the main reason I need a 4x4 is because I will be towing a trailer at about 300kg at max, and maybe just pulling some small trees out that are dead. Other it will just be used for speeding around on my property!
