It all depends on how and where you want to ride. IMO YFZ 450 if you want to race and Raptor 700 for general trail riding.

Like Jumbofrank said, it depends on how aggressively you ride. The YFZ would be better on a motocross track or running hare scrambles. The YFZ has a bit better handling, sits lower and is lighter.

Racing or if you like to jump, YFZ. All day trail riding and being mixed in with utilities, Raptor. Dunes and sand is about the only place it is a toss up and even then rider style will lead to preference. The YFZ will generally cost more to run maintenance wise so if you aren't into that go Raptor.

I checked the weight on the new ones recently and the YFZ was lighter but not by much IIRC. I think it was around 10 pounds dry weight difference. Whatever it was didn't seem like much to me. Without looking again I believe the seat height and overall height were about 2" difference with the YFZ sitting lower. I don't know how much difference that makes.

The YFZ carries it's weight a LOT lower though. The handling difference is noticeable. The difference in the air is also quite noticeable.

I was wondering how the weight distribution was. The lower the better. I guess that explains why some people say the Raptor feels taller than it actually it is.

Yea, I actually had a post on this earlier. I am going to go with the Raptor 700. A YFZ revs really hight, is built for racing only, and is a ton more maintenance than the raptor. The Raptor is good at all trails and hill climbs. Choose the Raptor

One guy I used to ride with had a YFZ 450 and used to ride it on a little track on his property where he had a jump or two. But when he went trail riding he always rode his Sportsman 700. It was more comfortable to ride all day. Another guy who I still ride with has a Raptor 700 and likes it so much he bought another one. Don't ask me why he has 2 but he really likes them.
