I am a first time buyer and have narrowed my choices to a new 2000 Polaris 500 magnum for $5000 or a new 2001 Honda Rubicon for about $6500. I have the money for either, but I am still unsure. Everything I read about the Rubicon is great. Have heard good things about Magnum as well. I wouldn't mind keeping the extra cash. Polaris or Rubicon? Please help!

Well i can't help you much on the polaris atvs because iv'e never seen one in action but I do here that there great mudders and has the best suspendtion on the market today. Well sence iv'e seen a honda rubicon in action I can tell you that they are a blast to drive. You can fly down trough trails go mudding with all four wheels turning, it just feels like a sportbike. Iv'e heard where it beats a 300ex as if it was standing still well thats what iv heard but never seen. You would love the Honda Rubicon if you got it but get an atv that would please you the most.

There both nice machines. Take them for a test drive and see which one you feel comfortable on and like the best. Another suggestion would be the taking a look at the Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. It will have a smoother ride than either one of the wheelers your looking at now and more power.

If I were choosing between the two, I would go for the Magnum for $5k because you could buy a ton of accessories like mud tires, bumpers, etc. and still have money left over. Part of the fun of owning an atv is modifying it to your tastes!

I personally would go for the Magnum. I like true 4WD, simple reliable tranny, and because I own a Polaris already.
