I have been looking to get a good sportquad for a while i was interested in getting a banshee or a raptor but i plan on mainly doing trail riding, is the ex the best choice? also how much of a jump can it handle will it be too hard on the quad to hit a couple jumps, and how much power does it have Is it lacking compared to the banshee or the raptor i don't need anything extremely fast.

Get the banshee. A two stroke rips compared to that 400 ex. Little extra maitenance but if you are buying new you should have no problems. The 400 ex is a nice machine, But a banshee can eat it up on jump and in the trails. The banshee has more suspension travel and is faster. Banshee

While the Banshee does have an awesome motor, it's suspension isn't one of it's strong points. The 400EX is a great bike, I had one myself, but it is a little under powered. The Raptor will do everything the EX will do, and do it faster . It also has reverse.

Get the 400ex, while it may be underpowered, it is one of the best quads to jump with. I am very pleased with mine. I have raced it with the stock suspension and was very pleased. Now if you plan on doing a pretty good size jump then there isn't any quad out there that is all that great, but for small to medium size jumps (0-60ft) the 400ex is great. I have my concerns about the z400 in its first year. It may turn out great, but I personally would wait a couple months for it to work out all of the "bugs".

Get a 400EX, you can "hop" it up for minimal $$$ and have the reliability of a 4 stroke. The Banshee is a blast to ride BUT if your just going to be riding trails AVOID the 2 strokes. They WILL foul plugs.

Are you going to be fast trail riding or slow trail riding? If your just putting around with some 4X4 guys or something, then you probably will foul a plug unless you "unload" the banshee when ever slow down significantly. If you are going to be doing fast trail riding, the Banshee would be my choice, because I prefer 2-Strokes.

I love 2 strokes too and have owned MANY. What you said is true, if you going to cruise the trails getting on the gas not all that often shy away from the 2 strokes because of the plug fouling. But if you plan on screaming through the trails them a 2 stroke is fine. 2 strokes like 2 things. 1 is to be shut off and 2 is to be wide open. They don't do well in between.
