ok im am an owner of a four month old 400ex and i love the thing, but i want a faster stock machine! The quad i have been lookin at is the raptor. I have drivin 1 but never got to feel the power of it cause i waz on snow and ice. Would the raptor be a good choice or should i stick wit the ex?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

My buddy has a 400ex that he has made several mods to his machine including pipe, k&n air filter, etc... I just bought a 2002 B/W Raptor on saturday 2/23. we went to our favorite riding area and I smoked him hard !!!. The best thing is that with all of his mods, he ended up putting out as much money as I did and I can still make all those mods to mine and still smoke him. GO WITH THE RAPTOR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

AWESOME!! thanks a lot thats all i really needed to know, but one more thing whats the top speed of it and in stock for stock form how does it compare to a banshee? not that im gonna buy 1 i just wanna beat my friends banshee.

 

The banshee is a two stroke. I personally would never buy a two stroke because you aleays have to mess with them. Less riding and more tinkering. The raptor has approximately 10mph of the ex but the riders skills account for alot. Stock for stock, the raptor will smoke both machines hands down !!!!!!!!!!!

 

Either build up you EX motor, 416,cam,exhaust,jet kit or bite the bullet and buy a Z-400.

Z-400 $5,699.00 same price as an EX and the power of a Raptor

 

I just got my new raptor on saturday. I owned a banshee for 6 years and have riden 400 ex's. I am here to tell you, do not make the same mistake hundreds of 02 ex owner's have made. the raptors's power is unbeliveable and the handling is right there with the ex, plus you get reverse. let me bottom line it for you. If you but the ex you will always be wishing for the extra 260 cc's and reverse. Life is full of critical decisions like this one, dont blow it!!

 

Wow, you've only had it (4) months and now your going to sell it. Take your time shopping around. From what I've seen the Yamaha exclusive dealers (shops that only sell yamaha) offer the best deals. The raptor has a very mellow easy preditable poweband. As for the top speed between a Stock Raptor & a stock Banshee I believe the difference is only like 2-3 Mph. Get the Raptor you'll enjoy the extra power over the EX. In the past I've only just ridden friends Raptors, but as I just picked up a 2002 LE Raptor this week, I'll get to experience it more now.

No knows yet, but it looks like it is going to be a 400EX with a motor that is as strong as a Raptor (with better engineering).

U can beat that. i think i am prolly goin to get the z400 cause i've been thinkin of the power u were tellin bout and it's suppose to be really light so i think it's gonna have killer power to weight ratio plus i also hear that it can corner razor sharpe so it has all the best packages in 1.
