ds is the better of the two but it is a huge quad have you looked at the raptor or the 400ex? is there a reason you only want a four stroke?

evan Jul 9, 2002 02:47 PM

Four stroke because I'm told there is less maintenance, no mixing of gas and oil, quieter, less chance of starting a forest fire blah blah blah. DS because of my size(snicker,6ft.225,snicker)but I am also a rookie quad rider thus the scrambler with 4X4. Rode bikes lots street and dirt(MX)plus sleds.

Another Canadian, right on. I know some people from Fort McMurray maybe you know them? I work for Manitoba Hydro and some people left our company to work for the power company where you live. One guy was Murry Linn, not sure on the spelling. There are others.

As for the quad question. The DS 650 is a big quad and not suitable for rookie ATV owners. If this is your first ATV then I would say look at the closest dealership's quads. I'm not a small guy but my Z400 moves me along really good. Go take a test drive on all the quads you like at the local dealerships and see what you like and what fits you best. If you don't have any dealership's then I suggest you take a weekend trip to Edmonton and go for some test drives. Personally I would give the raptor a chance, the Z400, scrambler 500 4x4 and whatever else you may find apealling to your needs.

Hey bb How's it going eh! (haha couldn't resist, aroocoocoocoocoocoocooocooo) I work out at Syncrude for a contractor been here for about a year. I was looking at the Suzuki too but was a little leery of it because of my size, seemed like it was a little small. Also do you think that 4 weasel drive is really nessessary(whatever)out here on the prairies.

Buy a raptor, put a pipe on it, jet the thing and turn your air box in to swiss cheeze. Look at me.

I have both quads and its the ds hands down if its your frist quad the ds in stock form is rather tame and by far more dependable than any thing running today and when you get a little more experience you can mod your ds and it will leave the rest behind.

ps:I don't know much about canada but you guy's make a hell of a quad.
