Should I buy a 400EX or a Z400?

I have ridden dirt bikes for years but I am somewhat new to quad riding. Which quad would you recommend for riding in the sand and on the trails, a new 400EX or a Z400?? I don't plan on making any mods right away. Thanks for your input.

I have both. The EX is a good trail bike, and I prefer its powerband for trail riding. The Z is more "pipey", and is a better choice for riding open country. And, the Z is certainly more powerful and has reverse. Around here, you can get the EX for $1,300 off the MSRP!! That makes it a good choice if money is an issue!! If I could have only one (for the desert), I think it would be the Z.

i know some people say the Z has way more power (which it does) but when your out trail riding the EX has all you need. if you plan on duning, or going wide open all the time on open roads then the Z would be better, but if you like a fast trail ride than for the money the EX is great. you'll have fun on both!!

Either bike is a sweet ride. Its hard to get me off of my Z though...... I ride mostly on the trails and it is all kinds of fun.

THEY ARE BOTH GOOD BIKES IF U ARE JUST LOOKING FOR TRAILS, GO WITH THE Z CAUSE THE DAMN THING HAS REVERSE. I HAVE A 400 I LIKE IT ALOT IT IS GOOD ON THE TRAIL AND IT'S FUN TO RACE. THE 400 IS EASY TO JUMP I THINK AND IT'S RELIABLE, NOW THE Z IT JUST CAME OUT IF I WERE U I WOULD GIVE THE Z ABOUT A YEAR JUST TO SEE IF THEY ARE GOOD BIKES. YOU KNOW WITH MECHANICAL PROBLEMS OR JUST TO SEE HOW THEY STAND(THAT'S WHAT I DID WITH MY 400). THE Z IS MORE POWERFUL BUT IF U ARE LOOKING AT NOT DOING ANY MODS FOR A WHILE THEN I WOULD GO WITH THE 400 CAUSE THEY ARE GOOD ALL AROUND BIKES. AND THOUSANDS OF 400 RIDERS WILL TELL U THE SAME.
