Givin the Speed being $2000 more then the Predator, I would get the Pred. Power on both are awesome, and yes the EFI is nice. However, once you have your quad jetted right, you really don't have to worry about it much. Both have great stock tires and rims. The Ohlin shocks on the Speed could be better, but there is nothing that says they are. Yea I know the Ohlin, but fox makes a high quality shock too. As far as weight goes, yes the Speed is lighter, but looking at the Glamis-Predator shootout, the Predator held it's own, even tho being 45lbs heavier. Again, both are great atv's, but for $2000, you can do a lot to the Predator.

I think im slightly leaning towards the speed becuz of the wieght factor and the ohlin (spelling sorry) all u really have to do to the bike to race is A-arms and Axle and at most some lil better shocks. the overall speed of both doesn't matter to me i could careless which one is faster im looking for one that will take as lil tweaking to make it race worthy and which one know how to fly and is easier to control on mid air if coming to a Do or die situation and there being a chance and when it comes down to muscling the bike into position

I've ridden both and it would be a tough decision if both quads were the same price. The predator is $2000 less and is just a little more capable on the track than the speed unless you widen it. If you're willing to put an extra $1500 in a-arms, springs, and axles to widen it on top of the extra $2000 sticker, then the C'dale is the better choice. Otherwise, the Predator is the quad of choice.

Oh yeah the rev limiter makes a big difference too.....The c-dale is 11,600, anyone know what the predator is? Probably in the 9500 range. I have heard some people complaining about hitting the rev limiter on the predator.

We love our dales, wouldn't trade if the predator was 3000 less.

You will never have to modify the engine on a cannondale. Rath racing is already looking at a 635cc big bore for the predator. Why does he need more power? If money is no object get a blaze or if you want wide get a moto. Cannondale's are the trickest quads around.

The reason you don't have to modify the Cannondale engine is because you can't. Short, sweet, and to the point it's been tried and hasn't worked. One of Cannondale's (factory or NACs) riders tried to modify the motor on his quad last year, he wound up making it slower instead of faster. He switched to a aftermarket framed, motorcycle powered quad to finish the rest of the season.

As with all new technology, it will take some time getting over the learning curve. I have no doubt that the Cannondale can be made faster, it's just a question of how to do it.

Pro racers (like Daryl Rath) never have enough power, that's probably why he made the 635cc kit. Besides, it behooves Polaris to go a little tame on the power. You never know when some idiot will decide that the Predator makes a perfect baby sitter for some young kid WAY too young to ride that machine.

Fuel injection is nice, but IMHO I'll stick to carburated machines. Much less to break down. Besides, I really don't feel like changing the fuel filter every time I start my quad.

Hey Mike Chero,

You havn't got your facts straight. Cannondales can be made faster Southbay moto is doing several Kits that have significant increases in size and power as well as adding reliability. Also changing fuel filters every time out is grossly incorrect. People need to quit bashing and just ride.

Sandfan,

Perhaps the reason the pro couldn't get anymore out of it was because of the displacement limit (440 ccs in the GNC). I must admit to being unaware of any big bore kits for it, though.

Still, I stand behind my dislike of the fuel injection system. The system is way too dependent on a fuel filter. It may not make too much difference on a car or truck that is mostly driven on the road, but for off road I'll stick to carbs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the Cannondale. Hell, I'm a cheerleader for American made quads. I got just as P.O.ed as anyone here when the Cannondale Cannibal lost to the Z-400 in the Hi Torque rags. I just don't think you'll be seeing fuel injection any time soon on any other quads, American or Japanese.
