Default Magnum 330 4x4 vs Wolverine

Looking at either the Magnum 330 4x4 or the Yamaha Wolverine. Will be doing mostly trail riding and climbing. Mud and snow could/will be a factor. High desert/forest of AZ. Was looking for something in between a pure sports bike and a pure utility. Anyone have any sugestions about these two or something else? Thanks

Don't know if you have looked into Kawasakies, but the prairie 360 supposed to be a hell of alot better than the magnum or the wolverine. They are both extremely heavy and are both outdated ( engine, and frame design), where as the Kawasakie is pretty much all new. Besides that the Kawasakie is an all around better handler for snow, trail, mud, hard pack, sport, utility, or anything for that matter. And displacement wise its in the same area as your other two choices. Personalley , not that I am putting you down here I would just hate too see somebody spend all that money for the lesser quad, if I where you I would put some serious thought into the Kawasakie prairie 360. So good luck to you and I hope I was some sort of help.

Look into the Suzuki Eiger too, ATV action magazine rated it the #1 machine in the middle class last year, and this month it did a test on 5 middle class Auto's (which I highly recommend) including the Praire 360 and it Kicked A$$ again, won the shootout. no brainer go Suzuki Eiger.

Read the Magazine ATV Action March 2003......

Dungadoo, where did you get your weight information? the Wolverine is one of the lightest sport utilities out there, dry weight is less than 490 lbs, most others out there are 540 plus !!! The Wolverine is a very sporty ride, and still plows through the rough stuff. Jsnyder, have you also looked into the new Bombardier Outlander 330 or 400? their Rotax liquid cooled motors are very fast, and the single spar frame and independent suspension give them a great ride. Just one more brand to take a look at,too.

You are one hundred percent correct, the wolverine is lighter than most other sport/utilities out there. What I should have said was the kawasakie out handles the wolverine, you feel like the thing has been riding you all day not you riding it. I have ridden both quads and the kawasakie killed the wolverine. Power per pounds and over all handling it was night and day between the two. And you have to say, although quite reliable, the wolverine is way over priced for the technology used on it compared to the new sport/utilities introduced in the past few years.
